just heard from ams.. this project was cancelled a while back due to projected low interest/sales since motor has to come out to install

That's what I figured as well. If the gains were substantial, it would be worth pulling the motor out for it, but not many people want to do that much overhaul for 20hp or so.
With that being said, AMS prices are hefty as they are... I don't see why they don't just make them by demand for each customer. If people are really shelling out $5-6k for Weistec downpipes, I'm sure AMS would still profit if someone asked them to make them a set.

I dont understand why someone just doesnt make a bridge pipe and sell that. Is it the install that throws people off? I'm assuming the engine has to be dropped in order to fit these.

Yes, the engine has to be dropped and most of these pipes are for the RWD M157 motors. Apparently there's more to be done with the AWD models.

for awd, engine out for new low profile motor mounts to make them fit... most people arent willing to pay 6K for the pipes and 750 for all day shop install to pick up the additional ~20whp that the bridge pipes offer over the 2-3K downpipes that simply bolt to the bridge pipe (30 min install)
