New nav map installation is taking forever
I just bought the CD set from MB with the latest map upgrades for the nav system in my 2011 E63. There are two disks and the installation is taking forever! I started yesterday and after 6 hours, it is only halfway through the first disk. At this rate it's going to take 24 hours of continuous installation time to get the two disks read and installed.
I turned on power to the car with the ignition key in order to run the installation without the motor running. The problem is that after a period of time (something less than an hour), the car automatically shuts down the power and progress stops. I have to manually restart the process to continue the installation.
This is crazy. Has anyone else done this map upgrade and found the same thing?

I have done the online map updates for a few brands of cars and the only ones that seem to work just fine were the Asian brands (toyota, Lexus, etc). The rest always seem to have issues, especially German cars

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
It's not surprising that asian, especially Japanese, is the master at electronics.

Yeah I'll stick to factory disk updates for this car, or not, since I use the nav maybe once every 4 months lol.
I do love sending the location via embrace to the car so I don't have to type it in. If it was not for that feature, I would never use the stock nav
