W212 e63 lowering

Hey mbworld, i just joined this forum. Can anyone be kind enough to tell me how to lower the rear of my 2010 w212 e63? I bought lowering springs for the front but the rear has self leveling suspension. If someone can point me in the right direction on the best way to go about this. Thank you so much. Any help would be much appreciated.

Lowering links, this is what you need.

OP, if you buy these let us know your experience with them. They are on my list as I already have my H&R springs here ready to go.

Super easy if you have access to a lift. It can be done with a floor jack though. Takes about 5 minutes per side, you may end up doing it a few times until you find the exact ride height you're looking for.

I also have those links. They work well, amazing what you pay 100 bucks for (just 2 pieces of metal lol). And yeah, H&R's in the front.

Does putting links in the rear also lower the front a bit through self levelling? I was contemplating getting the links and springs from h&r. Any advice?

The front uses a traditional spring setup, you will need adjustable springs to bring it down.

any recommendations on lowering springs? H&R seems to be the consensus but they only lower 0.75". I'm not sure thats enough.

Check out KW height adjustable springs as well. Another option and they are fully adjustable.

I have KW adjustable height springs. They are listed as the CLS springs but work on the E as well.

Check out my signature pic. That's with kW HAS in front at lowest setting.

That's a great height. What was the price point? Seems like its a massive difference compared to just springs from H&R

Was around 800 I believe for the kit, which included adjustable links for the rear. According to kW, my car is lowered in the front about 1.4 inches....didn't measure so going from manufacturer's product specs.

Though your car looks just about right for my taste it looks like it could go much lower, or am i not seeing it right? How do you like the DLM?

That's fair. If another solution could lower it more, the car could probably support a further drop, or at least it appears that way. For my tastes (looks, comfort, driveability), I feel like it checks the boxes.

I'll take a better picture and post it here, and you can judge it.

DLM is very nice. Biggest plus over links is you can control ride height and suspension/steering settings independently. Easy to use, and is a fun toy to play with as well.

Can you change settings as you drive or only when parked? which DLM did you use?

You can make changes whenever you like. The Renntech one is what I use...simple interface in their app. I keep a 7" kindle fire ($50) in the car for to serve several purposes.

Less than one finger gap in front. Ignore the wheel damage.

Definitely much lower than i thought. Is the car sitting at the same height in both the pic in your sig and the one you posted here? I'd say thats perfect if it still rides decent. You say thats the lowest setting? I have a RennTech HAS kit sitting in the garage for months which i've been putting off because of the concern of the ride. A DLM should take care of that concern. I think it's time to lower it.

Yep, same height in both pics. That is the lowest the KWs will allow you to go.

I think it rides great, and handles noticeably better. Before I lowered it, I always drove in S+ suspension mode. Now I drive in S suspension mode. It is certainly firm, but in 95% of situations it's perfect. Only situations where it's too firm are on bad roads, with large variations in surface condition...with such a small spring travel distance, you definitely feel those bumps. First car I've ever lowered, so was certainly nervous about ride quality, but I love it.

I drive my car on S+ 98% of the time. Would you say its stiffer in C after lowering than it was in S+ before lowering? Just trying to gauge the difference.

From the front seat....it's hard to explain, but comfort-wise, the car rides similar to stock most of the time. I really don't feel like it rides any worse. The only time I feel like it's too firm is when driving on a paved brick road or something like that...where holes/divots will form. When you roll over the divots, you certainly can tell you've lost some suspension travel distance. If I lived in a place with bad roads, I would not do this. Some cities I've lived in would simply not work.

I don't ride in the back ever, but I have had passengers and everyone has been cool back there as well, with suspension on S.

edit: to answer your question directly, it is stiffer in C after lowering than S+ before lowering in the situation I described above. For the most part, though, it's great. As you know, changing the suspension settings doesn't change anything on the front suspension, so it is what it is.

Thanks for all the input. Makes my decision much easier.
