google is of no help. As the title states I'm looking as to where I can find the cord to plug the car in as freezing temperatures are coming along daily.

 

It should be right around the crank pulley

 

Didn't know something like that exists but definitely a good idea. If possible, please post picture of the location so we can all learn.

 

Talked to a service tech at MB, seems that even CAD models either did or didn't have a block heater. Mine unfortunately does not but if you were curious and would like to check, it would be located near the crank pulley like @shardul stated. For those that drive their E year round, have you ever had a problem with it starting? Seems like our winters are getting milder so I expect it to be no colder than -35 C (very extreme range and I highly doubt it will get that cold). Tech told me that i shouldn't have a problem either way as long as its in the garage, heated or not, should still fire up as per usual.

 

You can't find it, because it doesn't exist. No block heater for the AMGs. I have a 2015 and for the first time am driving or daily during the winter. I couldn't even find an aftermarket heater for the E63.

So, what to do...

-Definitely use a 0W40 oil
-Consider an alternative heating mechanism. You can find universal heating pads that stick to the oil pan, magnet heaters that will stick to any flat ferrous surface, or universal heaters that go inline in the radiator hose. I was happy with none of those, so I'm just going with the 0w40.

I don't know where you are, but a heater is necessary only at temperatures below 0F. There aren't too many places where that happens with any regularity. Unfortunately, I'm in one of them.

 

I was thinking of installing an adhesive block heater for the few times per year I do need to park outside. What is your experience with them? Are they unusable on this car?

 

Coincidently, I bought a "Polar Pad' earlier this week, and put the car up on ramps this morning to install.

It was a no-go. The oil pan on the W212 sits about half an inch above a crossmember. The bottom of the pan is virtually inaccessible.

I'm now going to check out if an in-line coolant heater might work.

I use 0W40 oil, so I should be okay in the cold, but I'd still like a little help, if possible.

 

I did some more digging. We should be fine with a 0W40 oil.
A 0W oil is less viscous at -35C than a 10W is at -25. Mobil 1 0W40's pour point is -48C.
