Panamera's aren't reliable?

I saw even 2010 Turbo models being sold for close to 6 figure and I assumed man they must be good if they hold their value so well.

Even high mileage Turbo 2011-2012 were over 80k

Since you've been in lot of cars- which car would you recommend buying out of warranty?

You know guys, it's good to see that people are giving unbiased opinions here. I had such encounter last time on M5board when I was in market to buy either a E55/E63/M5/S6
almost everyone on that board recommended not to go with M5 lol -it was such a nice feeling.

One would've thought they would recommend or prefer suggesting their own cars but nope. Back then I used to think bigger engines are better and I learned through them it's better to buy E55 because it's supercharged (mod friendly) compared to E63 or M5 because they are NA.

This is the best part of being in community, irrespective of the background or beliefs- we help each other out.

So grateful to be a part of such nice community.

audi great boring car (for me) , first minor problems begin at 50 000 miles , what happened afterward I don't know yet . I consider S8 after E63 for my self

Also because E55 was considerably cheaper at the time when E60 M5/E63 were out, that probably helped your decision.

Same thing this time, RS7s are considerably more expensive than F10 M5 or W212 E63s. If you have the coin get the RS7. It's the best car in the segment.

Here's an example of a Panamera with just about everything possible done to it. 10.6 1/4mi, good sound, but for me it doesn't do much visually. Panamera V6 is the rich old person version of a Camry, and they look same as turbo s.

I'm not into moddings, so Panamera GTS would be my choice if I have to get a Panamera.

I need a break from BMW after my experience with BMW and my M5. I still like my E60 better than any F10. I have a V10. :-)

The 7 speed DCT is better than our 7G-tronic SpeedShift MCT, but that is it in my opinion. Oh, you can get HUD and a 20" wheel option too.

What was your experience with the F10 M5?

in manual mode I keep hearing how dct is faster shifting than our MCT.

i would bet in automatic mode in S+ vs automatic shifting on DCT that the MCT is as fast if not faster in upshifting.

And you would lose money.

The BMW's DCT is faster and better. The E63 has other attributes that offset that advantage.

+1 - I also have my reasons why I left BMW and chose an E63 over an M5, but the transmission is not one of them. The only thing the guys at the AMG factory said that made sense when I took a tour there was that they simply couldn't build a DCT that could reliably handle AMG's torque levels at the time.

Have we heard of any DCT's blowing up in new AMG GT or CLA AMGs ?

That's the first for AMG right umm did Black Series SLS also had it? DCT?

Also, I've read reviews-DCT isn't good for comfort driving or stop and go driving?

the reviews I've read said it's amazing and lightning fast for manual shifting with paddles, but not great when left to automatic shifting, especially lazy to downshift when stomping the gas.

Im just saying what I heard as I did not drive one myself.

+1 - not absolutely horrible in my 2016, but definitely worse than any other automatic car I've driven except for single clutch SMG transmissions (BMW E46 M3 and Ferrari F430).

The current king of dual clutch is the Porsche PDK. It's simply amazing...

PDK > DCT > MCT

That being said, I don't necessary think out MCT is a bad transmission. It would look amazing if PDK and DCT's didn't exist. At the end of the day MB is doing enough right things to keep me here but I do keep my eye on Porsche/Audi/BMW just as much as MB.

If only I could afford them all and crash them into each other taking the best bits from each and making 1 car. But things like science says I can't do that so meh, oh well.

im assuming it's the additional low rpm torque as the main advantage. Anything else you were reffering to?

it will be interesting to see how the new 9 speed MCT does. It's amazing with each model generation MB continues to insist on using MCT technology (I guess it's best option they can find to deal with the torque reliability).

From the videos released so far of w213 e63 it looks to be shifting very VERY quick. I think DCT might meet its challenge here.

More torque, better exhaust sound, and the biggest difference maker for me... AWD.

I know beating a dead horse but if you are not happy the MCT have it adapted. I know people are going to call me crazy, but so be it, after my tech adapted my MCTs the 2016 is better or at least equal to the DCT ( I owned a GTs 2016) and the 2015 is very close to it. It makes a huge difference. I have a 2015 911-4s with PDK and I love it, probably my the best car I own today, but my 16 wagon (after the adaptation) is pretty close.
