WOT in the cold and wet...no traction control light?
Hey guys
I'm new to this car and slightly baffled. I have on summer tires and when it is like 45 degrees and raining even if I hold down the traction control button to turn off the system...I can still mat the throttle and red line it without any nannies visually kicking in.
Is the car secretly cutting power or is the awd really that good?
Need...tune...lol

You won't see an indication of lost traction on dash with TC all the way off. The AWD is good but you are likely spinning tires. If you want to spin tires further in the wet, a tune will solve that 'problem'.

You should definitely be spinning. My car spins the rears pretty much whenever I want it to off the line, be it on summer tires or winter tires. And if its cold and wet on summer tires it will get sideways...

Hmmm...true but a wagon is like throwing a really fat guy over the rear axle so maybe that makes a difference?

Your a wagon with the extra weight and NOT an S model, i think this is the reason why.
With a tune you will see a HUGE difference.

My 911 would have spun the tires wayyy earlier - modern systems are pretty great (as I'm assuming my car is not actually broken)

OH! wait wait wait...I'm sorry. I'm not launching this badboy at 4k, I'm just stomping it to the floor and being surprised that the AWD can keep up all the way to redline.

Even stomping it to the floor off the line without race start my car will spin lol. What kind of tires are you running lol

Some kind of pirelli summer tires. I have to go look when I get back to town. I used them to back out of my semi steep driveway with 6" of snow just this morning. Seriously greatest awd ever and making a strong case for not bothering with all seasons or dedicated winters. I usually can avoid driving on snow days or take the wife's SUV anyway.

I just wanted to post an update here. So I'm now Eurocharged (call it 700-800 lb feet of torque...whatever). Traction control on or off, I can STILL floor it in the rain in a straight line and not lose traction. This car is amazing (or at least these Pirelli PZeros are). When you live in Seattle and the roads are at least damp 80% of the time, I'm going to have a hard time wanting to swap to michelin PSS or PS4s etc.

Ajs - congrats on the tune! Noticeable difference in power ??
When you test the wheel spin and traction in wet conditions are you in Sport + trans mode with traction full off (not Sport mode) and in first gear?
I have a 15 Amg S and in recent rain in Chicago when I floored it from a stop in Sport + mode and in 1st gear with traction Off it definitely spins the rears and I'm just stock with new Pzeros. Perhaps the wagon with additional weight in the rear keeps the power down?

Notatroll - unclear what you're saying exactly, but yeah, the TCU on this car is a mixture of epic for keeping the tires moving the same direction and awful for adding so much lag
