E63 Shift knob upgrade gone wrong

Just want to contribute & help others:
I removed the shifter unit completely from the base (4 screws - easy).
Then use a flat screw driver to separate the knob from the shaft.
It ended up cracking the old knob slightly but I presume it wont matter as you will have this awesome new shifter.
It is really life changing - the whole gear shifting actions becomes a lot premium somehow
