no MBs at the moment :(
Great to see one loved and used as much as your car.

BTW, small typo (I assume) on G. I'm guessing you meant to say 60,000 miles, not 80,000.

The only surprise to me is that you had to replace one of the turbos. I thought they are suppsed to last for the life of the vehicle no?

A lot of it depends on your relationship with your service advisor and how they feel about the situation. I remember my friend used to track his leased cars all the time and he often got them to cover the first set of pads/rotors.

Or back when people knew how to drive manual, an early clutch replacement

Still impressive to put 100k on a couple years. Good opportunity for someone get in a facelift e63s at pre facelift price.

stock car driven moderately turbo's should last a while but will fail before engine fails generally

now tuned car, different story as you are spinning the turbo beyond what it was intended for so its gonna wear out much faster

I really didnt think about this before tuning mine... I actually thought since the S AMG with stock tune already produces max boost (19 psi) just over a more narrow rpm/powerband that tuning wouldnt make much of a difference in the overall lifespan of the turbos.

How much mileage would you say is to be generally expected on a tuned car before turbos die out?

Also, how has yours been as i understand you are tuned for a few years now?

^ yeah but that 19psi the s-model hits is for a very limited time/range.... tune it and its hitting it a lot more time/range.... think of it this way, your engine redlines at ~6500 rpm but you dont hit it that often... what if you then run your engine at redline all the time, more wear?

and yeah mine been tuned for about 45K miles i think and only problem was a turbo oil feed line started leaking and was replaced under warranty (they asked if i had been racing it lol)

its pretty hard to determine when turbo will fail as too many variables

well the good news is being tuned with 45k miles and sounds like your still going strong...

i guess thats true though they won't last as long as stock... I just hope it's not like taking 20-30k miles of life out of them lol

lf course this all depends how hard it's being pushed. I will take it a bit easy on the go pedal.

Mentioned that I smelt exhaust fumes a couple of times. They scoped the car, and determined the right Turbo was the culprit, and had it replaced.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
Did the engine need to be pulled out of the car for the turbo replacement?
