19 and 20 combo
has anyone experimented with the idea of 19s in front - 20s in rear?
currently have 20s (lowered with H&R up front - links/star in rear) all around and wondering if 19s in the front will soften it up a bit - lowered driving around the 408 and road changes and or pot holes has me nervous especially while driving on a 255/30/20 - feel every hard bump scared every time i hear that noise -
need more sidewall - luckily my tires are about ready for replacement so i may try a 245/35 up front and 275/30 in rear.
Looking for suggestions
best
Mike

I can't help you with suggestions but whatever you do, make sure you keep the ratio between front and back as close to OEM as possible. I'm running 265/35/19 in front and 305/30/19 out back and besides having annoying interactions from my stability/traction/abs programs at freeway speeds, I've had this car try to kill me at high speeds twice!

Yes, 19s will obviously soften it up. However, if 20s are too harsh for you, then i suggest getting rid of them in their entirety (not really sure why you would want to mix and match -- after all, there is a reason why the factory spec'd it with 19s). Also, not sure why you would want to run the width differential you are suggesting, especially on an AWD.

just looking for opinions is all - the set tire set up is what i am running currently - not running a square set up - 20x9 up from 20x10.5 in the rear - Vossen VFS -1

Were those wheels built for a different car? Seems odd they'd be so narrow when the rear can be 10.5...

Have you tried selling these wheels on the Audi forums? That bolt spacing / offset will work nicely with A/S 4's and the like...

That's a significant reduction in tire width, which, coupled with 550hp+, will have a drastic negative affect on performance, not to mention you lose the gorgeous concavity potential with a properly sized wheel.

I use E63 as daily in LA and can't imagine riding on 20"...
Even 19's after springs and links a pretty "involved"
As for HREs - really good looking wheel but 19" OEM gray wheels fit my personal taste better...
