Ok to pass on these services at the stealer?

I'm at 23,000 miles on my 2014 63S; they recommended on top of the required services ...

fuel system service: 230.00
alignment: 189.00
tire rotation: 40.00

just have about 7500 miles on my new tires and at that time I did an alignment

thanks for the advice

The fuel system service is a joke.. any dealerships selling that on the newer cars are stealing your money.. The alignment and rotate I would either have them do or find a local tire shop to do at least the rotate as it will help lengthen the life of your tires. An alignment I would recommend every few years, if you start getting some uneven wear on the tires, if you get new tires, or if the vehicle is pulling or drifting to one side of the lane while driving.

Peter,

My stealer tries to sell me GD alignment almost every time it goes in for service. I had a slight pull and uneven wear pattern when I got the car so I had it done (since with distronic and all they need to do be the ones to do it) and they made it worse! then I took it back and it was a bit better. Then I took it back again, and finally they nailed it. I refuse to let them touch my alignment again unless I hit a curb or see some type of wrong tire wear (besides inside edges that all AMG's have). Alignment is a cash cow for dealers.

Anyway, that's my rant on the alignment BS.

Cheers.

Oh,
And how exactly do they rotate tires with different size tires on the front and rear axles? Or does your car have the same size all around?

Ummm ya on top of the fact the tread pattern is asymmetrical on OE tires - they can't even be properly rotated side-to-side. Unless you're rotating winters of course.

is the fuel system service just the replacement of the fuel filter? I cant seem to find a MB partner number for the fuel filter for an E63....????

I wouldn't recommend rotating rims either as we have 9" front and 9.5" rears, despite snow tires.

I’m due for a B5 service due to age, not miles. They want to do that fuel system thing too. Now, I’m all for doing the right service for this car, but that one seemed excessive. The alignment isn’t needed unless the car is pulling, and I’d say meh to the rotation since it’s only side to side.

Good point, they do. But not if they're both asymmetric AND directional like P Zeros.

Anyone asking about the fuel system service... most of the time for the newer forced induction cars, you can only add a fuel additive to the fuel tank. For some of the older non-forced induction cars, we used to use something like this at the dealerships BG Induction service
The issue with doing this service at all is that the greedy kids at the dealerships didn't want it to take 30-45 minutes to do the entire job, so they would turn up the pressures on everything and occasionally cause a hydrolock issue and kill the engine. I saw at least 3 engines get replaced due to stupid kids trying to do this service.. Whether it actually works or not, no idea but they (the service writers and techs) sure loved the kickbacks from upselling this junk. There are other companies like M.O.C. and this BG example for this service kit. None seem to work any better than the other, hence why I refused to do that junk to any cars that came in at my many years at the dealerships around here.
Also, if you are curious about the filter location, its in the drivers side of the fuel tank.

I must have an exceptional dealer. My service adviser does not attempt to sell me anything not in the service manual.

No way they will get me to pay for that.
I dont think we can change the fuel filter.
My SA told me to have my car align at a local shop when I ask I think it was 375.00

Asymmetrical cannot be rotated side to side as they all have an "outside" and "Inside". Symmetrical can be rotated side to side.

Think about it for a second Bill. You can rotate if you "flip" the tire to the opposite side, meaning the outside edge stays on the outside. But if they're directional, the tire is now rotating backwards which is not how they're designed to rotate.

Yes,.. understand that. I am old school... and remember when manufacturers would that that that was a hazard due to belt "set"... hard to throw 40+ years of warnings out.
