They did not recommend changing plugs. I asked, and they said stock plugs should be fine. I CERTAINLY have not sensed any misfires so far!
BTW,
I need to drop my stock ECU back in to confirm, but I believe the exhaust sounds different at start up. Almost sounds like some type of cutout valve is opening. I don’t remember this with the original ecu. It sounds normal for about 1 to 2 seconds, and then like drops an octive. Kinda cool.
NO DOUBT ABOUT IT that when you open up the throttle, it screams louder for sure.

Weird ... ams recomend plug change for me since I'm at 24,000 miles ... and they said coil packs on this car are weak and they'll need replacement at 40,000 miles
ive definitely read that you'll be fine with stock plugs and gap; renntech and a couple other tuners and threads confirmed that

Vrodman - your feedback is super thank you. , great to hear stock plugs are fine with The AMS tune.
For me - aI’m still debating between the AMS tune that seems hands down the strongest offered (especially the 830TQ figure) compared to a less powerful tune from my dealer fletcher jones Mercedes chicago. They just started offering a tune that’s 676HP and 720TQ for $3500 which is pricey, but the benefit is this dealer will 100% honor all remaining warranty with this tune that they OEM from a US based tuner (not sure which tuner)........since AMS tunes seem generally problem free thus am leaning towards that vs lesser power tune with warranty.
Decisions decisions......

ams says they have same warranty relationship with st Charles Benz and motorwerks barrington so that's reassuring.
im leaning towards ams.

daily shifting is generally about the same as it was before the tune. However, before the tune I was not thrilled with its downshifting in S and S+. I have had more than “oh sh*t” moment when it decides to upshift to 3rd or 4th, and then I suddenly follow with a hard throttle and get no downshift and a bogged response.
As you know I had already posted a thread on this that you helped me out with. Pointing me to the TCU reset procedure. I went through that and it did improve things, but not entirely.
Maybe with the new tune I should redo the TCU reset? Just thought of this actually. Hmmmm

its nice to redo the tcu reset quarterly on these cars ... they're like teens and learn bad habits quickly....

Peter - interesting, didn’t know AMS has a arrangement with MB Motorwerks Barrington to provide their tune and that dealer honors 100% warranty at their dealership???? I bought my car CPO from Motorwerks. Should I call Chris at AMS about this or do you purchase it thorough Motorwerks so you get an “official” invoice stating it was through the dealer and thus warranty honored???
absolutely ask Chris about this
