Peter,
I am told by FFTEC ( an AMS partner out here in the Bay Area) that you can't really do a pre and post dyno the same day. They suggest to me that I bring the car in with the tuned ECU first do the 5 pulls for $150. and then come back a different day after getting at least one full "drive cycle" on the original ECU. They say that the numbers will not be correct if the ECU has not registered some minimum amount of time being driven.
My thinking was that they are just trying to get paid twice. But after looking a bit more into it, it sounds legit. The extra $150 to run the stock ECU isn't that big of a deal. But the 35 mile drive and time there is a bit of a headache. Ugh. But I am scheduled to at least get the tuned ecu dyno'd in a few weeks! I will post results after I get them.
Side note: I am scheduled to take the car in to the dealer for some minor warranty fixes tomorrow so I put the stock ecu back in it yesterday. There is NO DOUBT that the tuned ecu is way more powerful! Car feels slow now. lol

thanks, but I am sure the very cool weather and the 2% decline have a very positive impact on the numbers. I like to test my cars in ideal conditions.... and you wouldn’t find better conditions that day (except for the salt on the road).

To be fair, your '14 is probably a stock M157, while mine is probably the most modded NA m156 in the world right now. My 60-130 is a shade under 9 seconds. It's a pity that it isn't a shade over 8

Hey Peter, it's in my sig, but I'll assume that you view the site via your mobile phone hence why you weren't able to see the mod list:
I tuned the car myself and boy did it reward me over the generic EC tune...
It's vastly improved over stock....but the W212 is so heavy man. After 80mph, to keep cutting through the air, it needs that tuned M157 power (or a supercharger). Until 80mph......traction permitting and RWD vs RWD, I'd be willing to bet that it would hang very close to a tuned M157. After that point....it'll be a bloodbath
- Kleemann cams
- DPE long tubes
- 3" straight through system to back-boxes (sounds terrible...really should have a H pipe in there)
- K&Ns
- HP Tuners custom VVT tune (very aggressive tune and also 7800rpm rev limit)
- 3.06 final drive diff ratio from the SL63

I was curious to see what the torque to the wheels vs weight would be on my car as it stands vs a basic tuned M157 car. To be fair, I skewed the figures in my favour ever so slightly here, as my peak torque is at 5100rpm, so I used 5100 as the approx M157 peak torque figure. But then again....both cars will land at around 5000rpm after each gear change, so it's probably not that bad of an area to compare figures on. Yes I know the curve and torque drop off is going to be different, but for ish n giggles, I thought I'd calculate... (I assumed the car weights are the same....might be a negligible difference...)
100lbs of WTQ difference between the two, but not a million miles away in the real world, due to the final drive I have.
I wonder what effect a similar upgrade would do for a tuned M157.......... food for thought.

The only thing I would correct is the M157 W212 drops to right at 4,500 RPM after each shift. At that point it is making 575 lbs-ft of torque (acccording to the graph above). I think you would have to look at the relative power throughout the actual powerband used. So that would entail 4,500 to 6,200 RPM for the M157 vs 5,100 to 7,500+ for your M156.
