Disconnect the negative terminal on your battery and make sure it isn’t grounded anywhere else then just disconnect the ECU and pull it out.

Under the hood passenger side. There’s a battery cover that comes off with 3 clips if I remember correctly.

When I removed my ECU to send to RennTech I didn't have to reset anything after re-plugging.

Peter,

It's a piece of cake. If it takes you longer than 3 minutes you must very mechanically DECLINED! LOL

Just make sure your ignition is not on and you are fine. If you are only removing it to see the label underneath (to get a 2nd ecu ordered) you don't need to even disconnect it. I thought you were doing dyno tune in person. So if you are they should be doing this. If you do need to remove it entirely though there are 2 cam sliders on the 2 connectors. Just slide them each about 3/4 of an inch and the connectors come off easily.

I have done this a few times now without any issue. Really nothing to worry about. Fairly bullet proof.

Cheers

im doing custom tune with ams but I'm taking vrod's sage advice and getting ams to source me a second ecu hence the pic ... will therefore keep my oem ecu as much a "virgin" as possible; had to send a pic to ams of my existing ecu to find a second one

good advice vrod!

Did you get your tune and if so, how do you like it. Got a extra ECU for the M157 for sale if your still looking for one.

Peter,

Make sure you check with AMS the serial number of the ecu being offered. I was told that they are not all the same. Some may not be compatible with your existing one for cloning. This is why I had to send them a pic of my label before they sourced it for me. You would think they would all be the same, but they insist no, they are not.

Just trying to help brother.

Good Luck.
