Hello. Quick Question - for your tune on the M157 / E63 W212, your saying you tune that via OBD port using the mygenius device and also revert the map back to stock via OBD and the device ??? So this is not a bench tune i have to send in the ECU to OE Tuning to tune ??? Am interested if the OBD option exists let me know ok. Thx.

Unfortunately there is no OBD2 flash loader that supports MED17.7.1/MED17.7.3 flashing via OBD2. ECU can only be tuned once removed from vehicle. If you are not local to us we offer same day turn around on all ECUs that arrive by 11am daily.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 for the M157? Are catless downpipes recommended for Stage 2? Thanks.

Downpipes are 100% essential for Stage2 tune
PM sent

Stage 1 – Suits no modifications, aftermarket air-filter, cat back exhaust upgrade

Stage 2 – Suits downpipes, headers and major exhaust modifications

Stage 3 – Suits turbo upgrade, supercharger upgrade, dedicated NOS tuning, highly modified applications

Do you have to physically open the ecu to tune it?

For 2014 E63S with MED17.7.3 ECU, we remove lid only to read and write the ECU, no drilling. The method we use opens the lid in a way not to damage the ECU or appear like it has been opened before. The lid is re-glued with black MB silicone.

I’m relatively new to this but is it possible to buy 2nd ECU send them both into you at OE and you are able to keep stock one stock and clone/Tune the 2nd ECU? So when all is done my original ECU is stock and the 2nd one is your tune and I can easily swap if needed? If answer is yes, how do I go about this? Buy matching part # off eBay/online?

Thanks in advance!

Pretty interested in this. Can a burble/flame tune be worked into this at a slightly higher price point?

You can go this route with a cloned ECU. The only issue with purchasing a used ECU is it could be water damaged or electrically damaged and there is no way to be 100% until it is tested in the car. 90% of the time used ECUs work fine. Cloning service is an additional $300.

Exhaust Burble tune with small flames we offer for $200 additional for all applicable platforms. Exhaust Pops added 4000rpm or 3000rpm depending on preference. We do not offer a flame thrower tune, for obvious reasons.
(We do not offer popcorn tune that never stops popping as it is annoying after 5 minutes of driving.)

OE - I take it that you do not have access or a supply of used /refurb ECUs? Other than eBay do you know of a reliable source?

Thanks!

Because of the issues we have seen with used ECUs we don't actually supply used ECUs for cloning.

Here in New York State all monitors must be in Ready mode and no CEL can be on to have a legal inspection.
OE had tunes my W211 6.2 ( love it headers and 3" pipes.. best sound) That car did not have a CEL light but the monitors never went into ready mode and was a mission to get an inspection.
Would I experience this same with my 2014s BMC filters only stock exhaust system. My 211 did have headers and Kleemans high flow cats but O2 never went into ready mode.

If you have not removed any compulsory emissions components, then you will pass state inspection.

I have to say, sometimes communicating with you guys is like talking to a bot or a politician. I asked the same question via email and clearly was answered by the same bot. We KNOW you don’t supply used ECUs. That wasn’t the question. Do you know of a reputable source? If you don’t know, just say so.

Is there a human being behind this user ID that actually reads and responds to questions?!

We don't sell or make any recommendations for re-sellers of used ECUs. I am pretty sure we stated this before and our disclaimer related to used ECUs via email. Or maybe it was a BOT???.....
This is a human replying BTW.

Why not call in and we can answer any questions you have the old fashioned way? 818-574-5075

Thanks. It would definitely help some of us out if you offered an option to include the tune on a new cloned ECU so we could keep our original stock. Only one tuner I know of offers this. Of course we would have to send the original to you for cloning, but then we would have two ECUs, one with the tune and the original one for warranty or backup, etc. And probably a way for you guys to make more money. Something to consider? Or maybe there’s not enough demand? I would think this option would really appeal to owners with significant warranty period left.

Due to seeing used ECUs fail from time to time, we no longer take any responsibility for ECUs to be cloned. We cannot re-sell a used product that is not always 100% reliable (failure rate of 5-10%) that ends up costing the customer and OE Tuning more time, effort and expense in the long run. Due to this, we offer cloning but only to customer supplied ECUs (above disclaimer applies to all used ECUs to be cloned).
Why not buy a new coded ECU through the dealership? This is what we always recommend for customers wanting cloning. 100% reliability has been seen with all customers who take this route.

i will look into it. I’m expecting them to charge a mint and it will definitely raise questions as to why, and potentially defeat the whole point of trying to keep the fact that I’m running a tune off their radar.
