Back in 2014 MB settled the issue but it appears they didn’t do much if anything to correct it. My W212 is now suffering the same fate. I’ll update as I press MB to cover this car out of warranty like they did with the W211s.

Fuel smell as the fuel sending units and filter assembly starts leaking under the back seat.

I hope mine is an isolated occurrence but after two W211 AMGs and the hundreds or thousands of others with the fuel leak issue and now this car showing the EXACT same part/area leaking, I seriously doubt I’m going to be the only one.Originally Posted by Forrest Gump 9

If that wasn’t enough, my dealer (who has never charged me for loaners in the decade plus I’ve been loyal to them) is now charging me $20/day for a Toyota Camry loaner. Do they understand the difference between a loaner and a rental?? If there’s anyone left around here that thought I didn’t have enough to complain about before...look out! Lol

I replaced the fuel filter in my ML63 in July, since it was leaking fuel all over the ground. The smell was unbearable and probably very dangerous inside the cabin. The service adviser told me this issue is very common with all Mercedes cars, (W211,W164,W221,W212) and it happens more during the summer. What happens is the top of the filter or pump develops a hairline crack and the car would **** fuel all over the place.
I knew something was wrong since the engine had a difficulty starting and fuel pressure would drop down immediately after turning off the engine (However, this might be a single incident).

I guess time for preemptive measure

ExploreI filed a complaint with NHTSA and I suggest anyone with the problem to do the same right away. They opened an investigation for the W211s and forced MB to acknowledge the problem, extend warranties on the problematic parts for 25yrs regardless of mileage, and reimburse anyone that had already paid for the repairs.
