Required 16.1 gallons to fill up, seems like my needle has been lower down when I get the "search for gas stations" warning

I precisely made a joke of this when I first got my car... "A bit under a 1/4 tank of gas is 'reserve' fuel in a v8 Biturbo"... Mine has been indicating this way since I got it.

I highly doubt you gas gauge has anything to do with your tune Peter. Did your gas light came on at 1/4 tank before? Mine has always came on 1/8 of a tank.

Lol, how are you liking the AMS tune. I know you’ve been contemplating for a while and now you got it, you’ll get to enjoy the E63s more.

Maybe oboserve your gas needle for a couple days and if persist, then you should probably bring it to the dealer?

Marry Xmas.

Mine has always lit up shortly after it dips below 1/4 tank.

I’ve also noticed that the “miles to empty” range tends to be conservative.

I think the owners manual says the E63 gas light comes on when there is 4 gallons left and for the E350/550 it comes on when there is a little more then 2.

Edit, from the owners manual.

All models except
AMG vehicles
Approximately 2.4 US gal
(9.0 l)
E 63 AMG Approximately 3.7 US gal
(14.0 l)

My fuel low warning also comes on just slightly below the 1/4 mark. It scared me the first couple of times that I was gonna run out of gas on the short commute to work, until after a few fill ups that it only took 16 gal and there was still plenty of gas left until the gauge hits zero. Now it’s just annoying to have to clear the gauge cluster warning screen and the center console screen separately every time starting the car when the tank gets below 1/4.
