Differences between 2014 E63S & 2015 E63S S+ settings.
Can anyone speak with authority on the differences between the OEM Sport + tunes between model year 2014 & 2015?
My reason for asking... when at idle in park, if I switch between C, S and S+ there is no difference in exhaust note, but when we do it to my friends 2015 E63S, there is a noticeable change in exhaust note when switching between S and S+. It becomes deeper.
Can anyone comment on this. Is there something in the ECU maps or TCU tune that separates the years? I'm EC stage 1 and he is EC Stage 2 by the way though I've been told there is nothing in either tune to cause this difference.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Well then something is doing it. There's obviously something different between the two years. I'm hoping then that's it's something in the tune that can be incorporated into the 2014 model year.

He would have to have a motorized valve/flap on the exhaust to make this happen... otherwise I've never heard of idle exhaust note changing with switching S to S+
however 2015+ cars seem to idle higher when you choose S+ so maybe you're hearing they tone difference; my 2014 doesn't do this

Great. Thanks guys. The increase in RPMs would account for it.
Truthfully I was hoping it was something more technical. We take our cars to the quarter mile a lot and he consistently sees 1.7 60 fts, while mine are typically 1.8 to 1.9 60 fts. I was hoping it was the car and not the driver. .

I have noticed the tone difference in my 2014 after replacing the o2 sensors.
just wanted to add to this. I noticed a huge difference in tone when I switched all my o2 sensors. Downstream sensor heaters had failed. No code thrown. Nothing stored when scanned. Mechanic I use tested sensors while the exhaust was out during a repair. Noticed no continuity on the downstream o2 sensor heaters. Replaces all the o2 sensors with Bosch sensors and the car now makes audible changes between the two like you describe.
