Wheel weight adhesive - solution!

Finally got around to cleaning off the ugly gunk from the old wheel weights. I tried just about everything and there was absolutely nothing that didnt involve 15-30 mins of scraping per glue patch, meaning an hour or so per wheel.

Sure enough i gave up after the first one went out to a local auto parts store to spend $35 on the 3M adhesive eraser wheel that you attach to a drill (P/N 03612).

INCREDIBLE! Took the gunk off in seconds and with no effort at all. I am in no way affiliated with 3M but i had to share. Works like a charm.

I have it so i gave it a shot, still had to scrub quite a bit. The wheel was literally effortless. I actually rubbed the paint off a wheel on my E55 a while back.

Did that wheel leave any scratches or any deeper micro ones? Always wondered how these work, sound good!

I was very weary, so it took some courage before i finally hit it full speed, but all good. No trace of it. Though my wheels are gunmetal and don’t show swirling, not sure how it’d look on a black painted wheel.

3m rubbing compound then 3m scratch remover work great on residual swirls
