Brake Fluid

Forgive any perceived ignorance!! I have looked through the multiple threads and really didn't see the specific information on brake fluid. SO....
I track my 2016 E63S and want/need to change the brake fluid. The Cap says 4+ (as we all know). For anyone who has tracked or regular driving, what brake fluid would everyone recommend?? I really don't want to purchase MB fluid from dealer.

If you are tracking your car, then Castrol SRF has one of the highest boiling points. I've used that in my previous track cars with great success. If you are not tracking, then any dot 4 or dot 5.1 fluid will work.

I have used Motul RBF 600 for years with great results. Now it looks like there is a new fluid Motul RBF660. Motul is the cheapest price but very widely used for track cars. Also there is Stoptech STR660. I haven't heard very many people use them but the people that use it like it a lot. Cheaper than Castrol but not a cheap as Motul.

Below you can see the prices and compare specs.

RBF660 is not a new fluid and it's not comparable to RBF600. They are completely different products. 600 is meant as a high boiling point street fluid. 660 is meant for track use.

OP, keep in mind that you really need to be doing a brake flush after every track day. Brake fluid not be used for competitive race events and then driven home and around town for extended periods like you would normally do sans racing. It also needs to be pointed out that brake fluid is hydroscopic. The higher the boiling point the faster it absorbs water and the shorter the service life it will have. Motul RBF600 needs to be changed once a year with normal street use. RBF660 needs to be flushed twice a year. But again, no matter what you use you should be swapping out your fluid after each track event.

+1. When you track your daily driver, esp a heavy big one like the E63, it's a good idea to:

1. Change brake fluid before each event.
2. Get track pads = dusty and noisy, but consistent action and fade resistant.
3. Watch your disc thickness carefully. Track pads and track usage wear down the discs much faster than street usage and the fade resistance is very much affected by disc thickness (amount of material that can absorb the heat).

Went down that path in prior life and before you know it you can do a brake flush and swap pads in less than 30 min...

I have the same vehicle and track it occasionally. I run wilwood EXP 600 Plus and for pads EBC Blue

+1 to flush the fluid. It will take a lot of fluid to clear out the stock mercedes old over boiled stuff so about 4-5 bottles of the 500ml will do it.

The pads are noisy but only at light pedal usage.
