Does your hood creak?
mine does not
My car creaked. I could hear it inside the car. Sometimes I swore I could also FEEL it in the floorboards.
It really could be your hood. My E400 had such nasty creaks that it spent almost 8 weeks at 2 different dealers over THREE AND A HALF YEARS. They replaced the left front strut and strut bearing, both sway bar end links, and several other sundry components. They could hear the sound. They could replicate the sound. They couldn't FIX the sound. I was ready to go car shopping, until. . .
I finally re-did my web research, this time going all the way back to around 2010, when the W212 chassis was new. Just a few owners had this noise back then. No dealers or MB corporate techs had any solution, but one owner did. His solution? Silicone grease on the PLASTIC BUMPERS that the hood rests on when it is closed. Remember, these unibodies may be stiff, but they are not solid blocks of steel. I tried the silicone grease on the bumpers at the front, middle and back of both sides of the hood on my car. AMAZING! ! ! My car suddenly sounded like it should! I then used the same grease, wiping a small amount onto the various weather strips where the hood, doors, fenders and deck lid meet other panels. Remarkable! The car sounds as solid as my Lexus LS did in its prime!
Try it. It is quick, inexpensive and non-destructive. Maybe it will allow you to regain your sanity.
