Hello and welcome!

first of all why do you think that you need new brakes -- who is telling you this and why?

yes you can just do pads if you're only going to keep till March 2020; do you have a brake light on or is the dealer trying to get you to get brakes

Hi sir I’m at 42200 miles. I went to 2 independent shops and they said i need pads and rotors on all corners. I’m just keeping the car for 6 more months and i only put 2k miles in 6 months.

The question is, is your brake light on? If not, I strongly believe you can last 6 months and 2k miles without needing a brake job. Good luck.

The Brake light isn’t on yet but this mean i will have to drive it very carefully but having that big engine makes you want to drive spiritually. I already feel bad driving it like a old man.

If the light isn't on, what prompted you to go to two shops to check out your brakes in the first place?

the front and rear pads don't usually wear out at the same time. Front brake pads wear out first most of the time. Also, if the brake sensor is not on then drive like you want. If you only are going to drive 2k to 3k more miles and the brake wear light is not on then you will not need brakes unless you track the car.

What is the brake pads and rotor measurements when your Indy shop said you should replace the brakes? The brake sensor will light up when the brake pads are down to 3mm and once it lights up, unless you track the car, 2k miles will not be a issue.

Drive it and stop worrying I put 1500 plus when my light came on

cause it was too cold to swap, when I did it it still have pad remaining I have notice that the new wears warn you when the pads seem to be just below half compare to the old car with metal sensors.

If I am correct at looking at the pad, it looks like you have a LOTTTTTTTTTTTTT of brakes left.

Yea, this is why I was asking OP why he had two shops look at his brakes in the first place?

OP. With that much pad life left, you can drive it hard for the next 2k miles without worrying.

Thank You

Hi, i appreciate getting all the responses and it gives me some hope on continuing to drive her. But i think you are mistaking the pads for the pad backing.
Thank You
i could be seriously mistaken

I agree with what has been said about the thickness of the pad. The photo shows a good bit of pad left. If it was the thickness of a quarter then the time to change pads would be close but with the amount of pad shown in the photos you can drive your car for thousands of miles before pads are needed.

So OP. Go grab a tape measure, and measure the distance from the rotor to the end of the actual brake pad material.

But currently looking at it, you are fine. Your rotors though will need to be replaced if your pads are starting to warp from the looks of it.
Here is your picture with more exposure. YOU ARE FINE!

For pad life, you need to inspect the pads themselves for thickness and cracks. If no crack exist and they are within service limits (usually greater than 3mm), then they are fine. Same thing for the rotors -- visually inspect for cracks and then you need to measure their thickness to determine if they are within service limits (service limits are stamped on the rotors). If they are fine, then you're good to go.

Looking at it visually the pads look like they are getting worn at an angle. Like the front looks decent and slowly decreases goin into the caliper

According to what I have found online,.. you should look at replacing the rotors when the slots are gone. Yours have thousands of miles left. My fronts were worn down to the point that only the drilled holes were left. I then avoided the dealership like the plague and bought the 2 piece Brembo rotors for (I believe) an E55.
