Is this ticking normal for M157 engine?

Recorded a video: https://streamable.com/5c18i

This was in "Park" with a warm engine after a 30 minute drive. Half way through, I revved it up slightly and it seems to track the engine RPM. Do you guys hear this with your engines? Should I be concerned? Thanks for your help, guys.

Honestly that doesnt sound normal and the fact that it follows the rpms is a bad sign. M157’s do tick under normal operation due to pumps/injectors i think but not that loud, at least mine does not.
If you still have warranty, you should take it to the dealer.

Normal I’ve heard some cars with it and others without it. Try switching oil to a 5w-40 I’ve heard of people switching to Liqui moly and it really quieting down that sound.

Appreciate all your feedback! Thanks Peter and try for some reassurance. And timm, that was the thread that got me listening more closely to my engine! Mine definitely doesn't have that same loud sound though. Glad to hear from folks who have checked it out and found it to be normal.

Yep. It doesnt sound bad. My 2015 with a fairly new motor does not have that sound. But my previous motor had a REAL ticking sound that was way more distinct than your clip. They claimed that was piston slap which I don’t buy. But they gave me new motor and I kept my mouth shut.

I think the oil change suggestion could go a long way toward quitening your engine.

Good luck.

Yep - normal. 70k M157 here, fresh out of a Service A, dealer assured.

Didn't hear anything abnormal to me. I put my headset on to listen closely for a couple of times, still sounded fine to me.

My best guess is that its the oilpump. Not nessesary a problem. Mine has sounded that way the last 100k kilometers, and still runs okay.

I hear it more often when I'm in a drive-through lane and the sound echoes on the brick of the building

For what it's worth I switched from Mobil 1 0w40 to Castrol Edge 0w40 and these common M157 sounds have subsided significantly. Much quieter in the drive thru lane!
Mobil 1 0w40 is a great oil but it can be noisy. I've always ran the Castrol 0w40 (made in Belgium) but it was temporarily not available in 5L jugs for all of last year in my area. Now that it's back I'm all stocked up!

I’m guessing it’s normal? Noticed it with the windows down in the drive thru. Tap tap tap tap.

I found an old Tasos video and even he couldn’t say what it was from. Tons of comments with people who have the same sound.

Also found an ML63 thread on this too.

ETA: I just noticed something with this sound. Only can hear it when the vehicle is in R or D. It goes away when it's in P or N.

Ticking sound.

I have the same ticking sound, specially more noticeable at the drive through. I noticed that after a oil change, it's almost gone, but comes back within a week or 2. I use liqui Molly 5/40. And I have a 2015 e63s with stage one with 99880 miles.
I'd say it's oil pressure related but also could be injector related. I say this because nr3 injector failed and it boosted that same sound before it was replaced and after that it got quieter. This coming week I'm replacing all injectors and plugs and will let you guys know if it sounds better.
