If it were up to us, we wouldn't make the key sacrifice to the install a requirement, but we're working around MB's most current security platform, which now requires a key to be present in order for the engine's ignition sequence to take place. To MB's credit, their DAS4 (most current) security platform is multiple times more stable and secure than the the DAS3 platform. However, without the sacrifice of a key to the installation, an aftermarket remote start on these late model vehicles is just not possible.

We are proud to state that our system, paired with an RF kit of choice or Drone Mobile for extended range, is the most reliable starter option out there. If you change your mind, we're here to help.
not to mention outstanding service and after sale support!
I love how configurable the system is from the stock screen and buttons, walking into your car at -40*C with your heater, heated seats and rear defroster on is amazingly awesome!
Big fan here, all the way from Alberta, Canada!

I have a 2013 E63.
Do all W212's need one keyfob to be in the car at all times for the remote start to work or is it just for the newer models?

According to the midcity website no you don't.

If the second key is in the closet, then if/when someone breaks into your car they won't end up driving off in it.

i placed my order on their website then read about it that it needs the spare key to stay in the car. i have Keyless Go, so anybody can unlock the car or start the engine since the key is inside the car.
so i canceled my order THEN i realized they probably have a box to shield/block the key signal.
already canceled, dont wanna place another order. maybe it's a sign i shouldn't get it.

if you’re referring to midcity that’s not true.
the key is hidden in a box in the dash hard to reach. Battery it taken out so it’s actually not transmitting any signal, it gets a short signal/power once the command is sent to start the car after that the power is loss and the key becomes useless again.
I’ve been running it for 2 years, best thing I ever bought.

i read the installation, you need to soldered a wire to the board. i just nervous someone (installer) might screw it up and fried the Mercedes board.

If that’s the case then you’re right it’s not worth the install.
Can you let know how you got 160 for 3 years? That price is pretty good. Isn’t 280 per year the standard price?

I have Mid City systems in my GL63 and S63. They are top notch, integrate well into the vehicle, and most importantly work perfectly.

I love the fact you use OEM key buttons to start it, I hate having multiple fobs on the same keychain

If you're not comfortable making the EIS modification, we can do it for you. If your vehicle has Keyless Go / Push To Start Ignition, we can make the mod for you at no charge. You just need to ship us the EIS and extra key. If your vehicle DOES NOT have Keyless Go / Push To Start Ignition, we can still make the mod for you, but there would be a charge for it, as it is significantly more labor-intensive for these vehicles. Please feel free to call us with any questions -- we're happy to help answer them.

Midcity is top notch. We have installed a bunch of them over the years and I have them in 2 of my cars.

No worries about the extra key in the car. It is only active for a split second on startup, not always like a normal key. There is no risk of vehicle theft with this setup, as that appeared to be someones concern above
