Is it even worth it paying mb for ent package so apps work
Seems like a pretty unreliable service through Verizon on these older cars. Mines a 2017 and I tried to get internet to work even had the car at the dealer and just always says data connection temporarily not available. They tell me at mb on some cell services data does not work. I guess maybe not even worth it pursing it further. Seems the pre 2018 Verizon data system is a flop. My 2019 e class wagon through att all data services work fine. No issues. Does anyone through the older Verizon system actually have their internet and apps work in their car? Internet radio etc. I’m not talking through your cell phone but through your pre 2018 car?

Ya, thats kinda what I've been thinking, I cant even get beyond the "Data connection unavailable screen" unfortunately, I've tried to have them authorize the command unit over the air about 20 times at this point, big waste of time.

it's so amazingly retarded that they signed the deal with Verizon instead of just allowing what you can do in Canada (not to talk about Euro cars) - use your phone as the data source.

I’m giving it one last go to get the stock unit up and running. tomorrow have an appt at the dealer. From the research I’ve done it looks like the serial number is either entered wrong or not entered at all into the LTE module. The serial number is located within the command system I’m sure they can find it with the Star tool. The Hermes module seems to be working ok as otherwise I’d not be able to remote start and unlock the car with the app. SOS works ok too although I’m not going to buy that package just the entertainment package is what I want. I like the app for weather with the maps and I also like the highway cameras for looking at upcoming mile markers for traffic jams. Plus to my ears the built in internet radio sounds a lot better than simply streaming my iTunes music. Keeping my fingers that tomorrow I may have a data connection up and running. If not I probably will add in a Apple car play aftermarket kit and a VIM module.

Well the dealer had the car for a whole week to try and get the internet working, the car is a 2017 S550 which is suppose to have 4g LTE the dealer had no luck getting the internet functional. I've pretty much given up on it. Anyhow reason I posted this here even though this car is a S class is I cant get any answers whether anybody with a model year 2017 and below has working internet with the old verizon system? I'm thinking maybe anything short of the 2018 plus models that use the newer ATT Mercedes me connect might be the only cars that internet actually works at this point. I do have a 2019 E450 Wagon and the internet and apps all work fine in that car. On my 2017 S550 Sedan the only thing I can get is the message "Data Connection Temporarily Unavailable" pretty much all the time although every now and then It's telling me I don't have a subscription which is not true as according to customer MB service on my phone cars from the car I am signed up for the Entertainment package. Very strange. The car has now been in at the dealer a total of 9 days for this issue as the car is still under full factory warranty. What bothers me is the car is under warranty and this is something that was designed into the car and is suppose to work. If it did not work why are still selling people the Entertainment package for $18.99 per month?
