Has anyone heard of blendmounts? It’s to keep your radar detector compacted without all the wires. You connect the power wire to your rear view mirror power bank. They don’t support Mercedes because of the plastic housing and it would get “crushed”. Has anyone found an alternative to keeping your radar detectors clean and sleek in your vehicles?
Most people on here go with a sticky cup if you have Escort or Uniden, and then get the hard wire kit. You can tap into a powersource in the sunroof controls area, and then run the cable behind the mirror.
Cleanest setup you will have. There are lots of guides on this here.
BlendMounts or MirrorMounts clamp on the cylindrical part of the rear view mirror, but the E classes don't have enough of that "stem" exposed to use these mounts.I also gave up. I had a MirrorMount on my Subaru (previous car), and it was very slick. I don't think there are any switched power lines in the mirro assembly though, so your radar detector will need an auto-off feature to give you peace of mind.
Or, you can run power back to the trunk (I just did that this week, see my update to an existing thread).
My vote is for a Valentine 1 unit mounted directly underneath the rear view mirror via an aluminum mount off Amazon. It plugs into the OBD port and is pretty clean. Just have to run the wire along the top and side of the alcantara lining. I’ve had mine for a few years on several vehicles including the e63 and it is awesome. Puts the radar detector right in my line of sight While looking really clean. I also purchased the auto silence module which you can set to automatically “hush” audible alarms below a certain speed. Great solution in my book.
I have a 9500ci installed on my car. It works great. It has saved me from a few tickets. I've only been tagged twice with a laser and it worked as it should. The unit display is built into my gauge cluster through the radio screen. I would recommend it 👌

DO you have link or picture of this mount and where you attached?
Yep. Here is a link for the exact one that I have. I put it int he same location. Mine is a little more "snug" than in these pics and it doesn't interfere with any of the car sensors.
Here's the kit I got off the internet, mirrortap.com the 21" kit. So I could put it on the passenger side of the mirror. I didn't tap into the mirror, I used the overhead switches and lights.
its pretty easy to get inside. From the front there's a couple clips that move together, I used a curved clip removal tool.
you also have to loosen the covering around the base of the mirror. Then I found a switched power source, see pics.

I have something very similar in my truck but could not get it to work in my W212 due to the actual "neck" for mirror is hidden by 20lbs of plastic coverings for all that safety sensors up there in front of mirror pointning down the road.
please post a picture of yours install so I can have an idea how you got it to work...
I am so sick of changing suction cups or the dayum thing falling and hanging by 1 suction cup... argggggggggg.

Here you go! I did have to maneuver around the rear view mirror housing a bit to get it to fit, but I did NOT have to unclip anything in the process. I just took my time and worked it with a tiny Allen wrench.
Well I cannot get anything on the mirror stem as it is on top and not a lot of it is clear between mirror and plastic housing all the car cameras and stuff.
I think I have an idea.
Either sheet metal with double sided tape on back of mirror or on lower face of housing that hides the 2 nanny cameras on windshield.
Make custom bracket.
Henesseya,
Thanks for those pictures. Could you measure this section? Blendmounts’ current 2014 CTS mount looks different.
sure can. Just to clarify, this is a escort 9500i detector and here are photos of what it looked like in the caddy.... I had to straighten the piece out using Allen wrench
I appreciate those pictures as it helps me understand why those will not work on mine as your mirror is slightly different and have more stem room.
My mirror is deeper front to back more half circle and has small clear lens on it for some sensor I am sure and I use the garage door buttons underneath.
I cannot see my stem unless I move mirror into some funky position that does not work for anyone in the car - basically up and towards driver side window.
Argggggggg
Choice is to get sheet metal and make curved piece with double sided tape to stick on back of mirror and have some hang down tab for detector mount....
or similar but sticks to plastic camera cover in front of mirror..... or stick to glass...
Sick of suction cup failure every year at in opportune time.
Man too much crap in the car for sure... even sun visor area is complicated and busy.

ya I hate suction cup as it always falls. I still can access my garage button. Luckily I only use the far left one. Not sure what Series I have but it’s a 2017 e300.

Henesseya, luckily, you have a W213, our W212 looks like this. no clearance!! Very tight!!
