Well pretty much a month after getting my E63 almost a couple of years back I've been trying to get a good tune. I went through DTK originally and although initially it felt great it didnt feel like a big change to me at all felt a bit more torquey. I shortly developed spark plug issues and coils failed. After changing the plugs 3 times I realized the coils were bad as well. After changing those the DTK tune still had this weird pinging especially when you get in 4th gear pulls. After a couple of revisions I then decided to try HD tuning. Matt was great and even though I initially had issues with he's tune he offered to dyno tune it for free just paid the dyno shop for the time on the dyno. It did pull well but it would still have slight hick ups like a pinging in 4th gear and 5th and would have flat spots in acceleration. He's tune would hit hard when accelerating and then taper off, top end. Now and I don't know why I didn't go to Jerry at EC first since he did a fantastic job tuning my E55 I use to own,
I decided to give EC for my final try. I contacted Jerry and he said no problem will get it tuned for you. So I went with there Stage 2 tune. I've also at the same time decatted my stock downpipes. Now the tune atleast the 1st tune I got pulled really well but the car on one run I did in 3rd gear wasn't having it. The cars check engine light flashed on and off and then a solid flash it was running really rough. I turned it off and then back on problem went away. Told Sean at EC and Jerry and they got on it right away sent a revised tune based on me sending them a datalog using HP Tuners and the car runs great. Now the difference on this tune compared to the other tunes I've had.
I noticed with other tunes and there revisions it hits hard right off the bad but tapers off in power. With Jerry's tune especially on the freeway it will build power. It will accelerate for the first second or two and you think ok that's it and then boost comes on full and just goes, pulls hard till it shifts. I'm not 100% yet and I'm kinda torn between doing he's E30 Tune or just installing Meth only using it for cooling no tune for the meth. Overall getting this car tuned was a long time coming and very frustrating to say the least. I don't blame any tuner I think I just got unlucky with this car and how picky it is or sensitive to aftermarket tunes. DTK, HD were good to deal with but in the end for me EC Jerry and Sean really stepped up and helped me out.
Also get a set of blackboost intakes, you wont regret it. It helps the turbos breathe way better specially up top
I was really thinking about those. If the hood seals them off so no engine heat they come with the gaskets were is it getting fresh air from?. Main reason I held off was the price but they look bad ***.

They are one of if not the cheapest options for the M157 I believe, I could be wrong. They make a difference, I only broke into the 10s after installing them. The up top is WAY better.
They get air from the stock vents and they come with the rubber seals to seal off the hood.

I found a pic of it and see now, i have the vrp tubes should just mate to it. Looks sick. I gotta save money for that then. 1400 bucks is up there but reading up on it a bit seems to be very positive.
