2014 AMG E63S and 2020 AMG GTC
We had the Texas Mile event this past weekend in Beeville Texas and one of the guys who took this thread to heart entered his car in the event.
If you review the original post in this thread, Jesse performed the following mods to his car...

EC Canada E40 tune, running around E45 in the tank
EDOK TCU tune provided by EC ATX, running the normal TCU tune limits provided by EDOK
Catless Red Star downpipes
Black Boost v2 M157 Intake with the Black Filters
R888r's in 295 width on stock rims rear
BFG RE71r's in the front at stock width...
ECE Engine Mounts
Larger SMIC heat exchanger and pump rewire for continuous on...

Most importantly of note.... no water meth injection.... yet.

Ambient air temp was 90°F and the resulting DA was an abysmal 2741 ft

Looking at the logs for the run.... the intake temps went from 107°F at the start of the run to a high of 162°F at the end of the run. The system recovered quickly but seeing sustained boost over almost 30 seconds definitely stressed the intake coolant system. This is an area which could stand to be improved. Perhaps water meth injection or nitrous sprayed on the intake during the run would help. For day to day driving his system appears fine as is. Having said that, we didn't see timing pull so the car was happy at those intake temps.

Proof is in the pudding as they say though.... dare I say that Jesse has the fastest M157 W212 in the Mile?
Here's the draggy slip... note the uphill incline. That's not an artifact... the runway did slope upwards just past the quarter. Imagine his time if it had been flat and cooler.... oh well...

Here's the official sticker...

And an in-car video of the pass.... it wasn't as bumpy as it looks but the suspension was set in sport plus... perhaps comfort setting would have been better, but we were more concerned about the coefficient of friction at speed. We should probably consider investing in some image stabilization software as well..

You can go here to see how Jesse faired amongst the vehicles at the event. I'd say he represented the AMG crowd very well...

https://axwaresystems.com/axstorm/li...y=overallspeed

He was only 6 mph slower than a tuned GT2RS, and was faster than any Lamborghini Huracan or Evo there, with the exception of a twin turbo Huracan... so he gets a pass for that.

Congrats Jesse... we'll break 190 in the Fall.

What Brett didn't mention is that he was there to help me with the tune and reset some trims to get that run! Im pretty sure he got me that last 2-3 MPH Improvement over the previous runs.

Maybe I'll ask another way

What is the HP and TQ gain going from a 93 octane pump gas tune to an E40 Ethanol tune?

I'll ask a question back... Are you looking just at 93 versus E40 but with all the supporting mods noted here? If yes to supporting mods, then you are looking at ~ 640 AWHP peak to 680/690 AWHP peak bump easily, though some of us are over the 700 AWHP plateau know. The BB intake also helps maintain horsepower all through the rev range where you really notice the power difference.

Thank you

Mods will only be BB, TCU, ECU and engine mounts. If it's just as safe I'll stay on pump gas for the 50HP loss. I just wasn't sure how much E40 was adding in power and don't want to be storing barrels at home for 50HP. For 100 maybe

What do you guys do for road trips? Re-flash to pump gas?

One solution is multiple ECU's. Easy to swap. I have not heard of any commercially available map switching with a single ECU.

It takes less than 5 minutes to map-switch through the OBD port.

why would you store barrels of E85 when its sold at gas stations? are you thinking of race gas?

Not everywhere. I have never seen it at a gas station.

Not everywhere has E85 at the gas station.

e85 is not sold in our province And if you want it you will be storing barrels of it.

This is one of the biggest surprises to me. With a lot of BMW tunes, you can map switch using steering wheel controls. What is holding the MB tuners back from offering this?

Valet mode/eco mode/pump gas/race gas/etc. There are definitely reasons why you would want to switch on the fly.

E85 is not readily available here. I'd have to carry a can of it from the house with me to mix at the pump when fueling time. Or drive home pure gas until I could mix at home. Kind of a pain, so I was wondering with pump gas tune what I'd be giving up in performance... and maybe safety? Are the E tunes safer as well as more powerful?

This is a common issue when discussing tunes on various forums.

Only have consistent access to 91 octane (fellow Canadian here), and no E85 at the gas stations.

So my main interest is how the 91/93 tunes perform, knowing that we are leaving a lot of power on the table not using e85/e40 etc.

This has been an incredible thread! My only question as I start to make my parts lists for my 14 E63s is....For the people who have been on the E tune especially with a TCU tune for atleast a year or so, has there been any major wear and tear issues? I'll be ready to pull the plug hopefully by July since I'm finally getting bored with the stock performance life lol.

For the guys running high tens on stage 2 tunes, how much boost are you running approximately on pump?

Sam,

Did you run your 10.82@129 at YEG altitude?

What is the fastest you have run on pump gas?

yes that was in Edmonton, it was on Petro-Canada 94 with 10 liters of E85 to a full tank.
so approximately E12 or so

Most pump gas contains 10% ethanol, so that could be up to E20.

What did you run with normal pump gas, for comparison?

yeah they say “up to” 10%, so I usually don’t factor it in to be on the safe side. My best on straight pump was 11.08
both on same tune, just the E85 added.
