Got rear ended!
So unfortunately got rear ended yesterday going home from work by a high as *****, weed smelling 18yr old driving mom/dad's car, with painted fingernails(yes all 10 fingers painted lime green, pierced nose, tongue, and eyebrow who supposly is identified as a male(says so on DL) (I'm also pissed as well, please forgive me).
So with that out of the way, anyone happen to know or have part numbers to the oem carbon fiber rear diffuser as that took most of the impact. The car has the base plastic diffuser on there now,but does have the midnight blacked out package and would love to upgrade to the cf to match the front lip.

Their adjusters first question: how fast were you traveling when you backed into my insured's car...?

I would make sure to file a depreciated value claim as well. Obviously a bumper cover is no big deal, but now you will have a mark on the Carfax. which I've found makes any car hard to sell.
Make sure you document that it was just a bumper cover since any reasonable person would be ok with in contrast to both rear quarter panels being smashed in.

Diminished value varies from state to state. When I was pursuing such action in VA, my lawyer advised me that I would have to sell the car in order to prove the diminished value. I've been told it is not as tough in other states, but I don't know.
People apparently used to have Carmax give them an appraisal indicating value with and without wreck and that was sufficient in VA. Carmax has stopped doing that unfortunately.
Best of luck, and glad no one was hurt!!

I was personally curious how they determine it, there is a formula here https://www.valuepenguin.com/auto-in...%20of%20%24600.
Based on that your only looking at ~$1250.... which is way low in my opinion. If i had to guess, i would shoot for like $2500-$3k based on your low mile car.
You might have to negotiate with their insurance company, or your own.
This isn't a Hyundai, its a $115k new 4 semi exotic (at least that's how I'd argue it to them).
Whether or not your value is actually affected is irrelevant, but for this arguments sake, your car is now worth less to an identical cars that has not been wrecked. You need to fight to be compensated for that, essentially made right financially. again, if were taking about a 80k mile civic, no one cares. but if this was a new f488, those people are going to be more picky, and thus the diminished value should be a higher percentage.
