High mileage m157?
both have used engine for about 10-12k if they go. Seems like the V has more aftermarket parts, I’m also wanting to stay RWD but might not mind the AWD platform of the cls/E

The 14+ m157 still look like they could be sold new imo. Miss are generally limited to bolt ons and tunes. They share some similarities with the m113k, which there's quite a few documented over 200k and even 400k. I think mechanically the MB are very stout, but they are packed with tons of tech that might not age as well. Who knows? Having said that there are/have been quite a few for sale recently with over 100k.
To sum up, the m157 e63 is a much better car than the v2, and a better comparison would be a v3.
