I am back and decided not to take the car on the trip. Theft can happen any where but the rarity factor and dealing with the Insurance would have been too tiring. Did miss driving it on the long trip though
Thanks

I recently took mine 4000 miles through St. Louis, the Dakotas, Chicago, Indiana, and Baltimore. From gravel roads to seemingly sketchy neighborhoods, i don't regret for a second taking my E63 wagon. best vehicle i've ever road tripped in, and there have been many.

WOW! Seriously! You wrote this above about "fob in foil" but don't know they can't start the car if the start button is removed? Which means they need the physical key.

Having lived in Vegas (top 50 cities for highest auto thefts) and parked my car frequently at casinos, not sure why you were concerned about Atlanta.
Additionally, I doubt when car thieves are hunting for the next car to steal, they'll pick a wagon out of all the other choices out there. Few people even really know about the E63S wagon, so most will likely just drive on by and not pay any attention.
But, if you're afraid people are going to target it, because AMG, then debadge it or downbadge it.
I can't imagine living my life in constant fear. I also can't imagine buying something that excels at a specific use and never use it for that specific use. Like buying a jetski and only using it in a pool.
Related, just took my wagon on a road trip thru the desert. Our cruise control will set upto at least 105mph... I didn't feel the need to test it further up.
Ended up setting cruise control to 90mph and over 250miles, I got a hilarious 17.6mpg and an average speed of 86mph. Massage seats, lane assist, and distronic+ all set... was pretty awesome.

It was in reference to your reply to PeterU. Removing star button is meaningless (as PeterU's post implied). If they have equipment to clone MB key they HAVE a "spare" start button already, so removing it won't prevent them driving it away.

I had a Subaru a long time ago where the cruise control wouldn't engage above 100... so it's something I've tested on every car I've owned since. haha

had a a few Infiniti's (infinitii?) that would not set cruise above 90mph, so was curious how high the Merc would go...

Never heard about this key fob update. Of course, not a tweak for our W212 cars but I wonder which model years this fob update works with.
NBC News June 15, 2022:
"Audi, BMW and Mercedes have already tweaked the formula a little bit so their fobs stop emitting signals when the fob isn't moving"

If you’re worried ab it when parked then pull a fuse. Easy.
I had an older Tahoe that I put a toggle switch inline in the ignition wire and it was an easy peace of mind deterrent.
