2011 E63 AMG
Brake pads

I'm looking for brake pads for my car. I've got the w212 2011 e63 AMG with the factory/oem brake calipers and rotors. My pads have worn down and my brake light came on to change the pads. I found my pads in brembostoreusa's website but they're all out of stock... I need pads SOON. I am going on a trip here soon 1500 miles away and need to get them changed before hand... but brembo is out of stock for my pads, and almost every other company won't let you order them, or websites are too confusing to even operate, or they're not in stock. What's the reason for this!? And what brand/where should I look to get JUST PADS? I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a full rotor/pad set for the fronts and backs... because I only need pads... but im not sure where to look to get the pads I need and only the pads. Someone give me some parts numbers possibly? Or websites/ brands to some good brake pads that ill be able to order? Thank you in advance!

Check out Zeckhausen. Dave has been around for a long time and is one of the absolute best brake experts out there. Here is the link to your pads etc (2011 E63 with factory iron brakes):

No affiliation but have bought from him numerous times. For which brand to to use, search is your friend:

Rear: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...et-rear-bp1450

Track/Street Setup (What I have and am VERY happy with):

Buy the second set, and send the old ones back in when they wear out for a refund.

Good to see another m156 in the W212 sub

where would I send them to to get the refund? Ebc? Or fcp euro?

to fcp euro. They have a warranty page, and strict process. But if you follow it, it is a real lifetime warranty on everything they sell.

No to highjack this thread, and not directed to 6_Myles personally.

But I never understood people that send back used brake pads, brake discs, clutches, shocks, etc.
The FCP Euro warranty is a great benefit and they clearly are making money, but at the same time, who expects brake pads and other wear parts to NOT wear?

If here is something wrong etc, sure, I get it. But just to send back things you know will, and that are designed to, wear out?
Would you try to return used food products to the grocery store? Used toilet paper to the local pharmacy? Expect to get free tires for life from Tirerack?

Would be fascinating to hear what the return rates are for wear parts to FCP. They do highlight the idea in their ads, but how many people actually do this?

that is their whole marketing gimmick. I buy EVERYTHING from there…just in case it breaks and for when it wears out, not if; this is their business model. They say very clearly in their marketing that even wear items are included. Even big box places like Oreilly’s offer lifetime replacement on their brake pads, as long as you still have some braking material left on them, and lots of other parts. They have happily exchanged 3 sets of pads for my diesel Excursion of my 19 years of ownership, along with shocks, alternators, power steering pumps and etc.

Do I pay a little extra of o2 sensors, oil change kits, trans fluid/filters, etc when I buy from FCP…sure….but I also have a full set of rotors and pads on my car that I never have to ‘pay’ for again. Clearly their business model works for them. I would imagine there aren’t enough people who keep their cars long enough to go through pads/rotors/filters/etc. so it all balances for them.

I’m not operating in some gray area with these businesses, it says this is what they do….so I hold them to it. They set the rules, I follow their rules, and they uphold their promise and we have both been very happy with a) how much I have purchased their over the years and b) my safety net of having very expensive OEM parts available to me with a lifetime warranty.

Sorry - didn't imply that at all! You are clearly NOT doing anything they don't envision can happen.
Sincere apologies if you took that personally, didn't mean that at all.

And I think you hit the nail on the head - most people just don't keep car long enough to go through multiple sets of wear parts.

Didn’t take it personally at all FastWgn, so no worries.

I definitely think they are hedging their business model on people not keeping cars long enough, forgetting their order the parts from them, or not wanting to pay the shipping costs back (because that is the only ‘cost’ associated with their lifetime parts) or go through the hassle of a return process.

I’ll keep riding their business model with all four of my benzo's until that horse bucks me. But for full disclosure, I do not send back any fluids/filters under their warranty…the shipping is too expensive for the trouble, and their packaging requirements are pretty stringent.

To go along with this subject are there any GOOD DIY videos showing how to R&R front and rear brake pads? I can't find anyone where I live that will just replace pads (2015 E63S) so it looks like DIY is my only option.

How is the dust on the EBC Yellows compared to stock and how are they when cold?

I’d say about the same as OEM…maybe a minor bit better but that might be some bias.

I have found them to be a great street pad, with zero sketchiness when broken in properly.

Any comparisons between EBC Yellow and Red? Would love to have the same performance as OE with substantially less dust but I refuse to get ceramic. I don't like them in a few conditions and they tend to lack initial bite.

I have never tried the reds, but bvery video I"ve seen seems to create roughly the same amount of dust between the three.

I found this.... good read. I wasn't aware RED was ceramic.

This is a poorly written article with no substance. Reader beware. I did not keep my research from 2+ years ago when I looked into low-dust alternative pads. Will post if I can locate.

EBC Redstuff vs Yellowstuff inadvertently made the shortlist along with Endless, Rado, StopTech, and Hawk HPC 5.0. I ended up with EBC Reds and do not regret. Dust is less than OEM, but not eliminated; no noise; very good performance; the occasional click when changing direction is gone. Dust and noise were my top concerns; dust improvement is not as great as Akebonos on my other vehicle, but measurable. Always a trade-off between braking performance and dust.

Thanks for the info. I’m debating between the ebc yellow and reds. It seems like the reds dust less than yellows. I’m not sure if there is a noticeable difference in performance between the two.
