Worthwhile Mods Under $500 (Recommendations Needed)
Looking to gift someone a performance or cosmetic modification valued at $500 or less. The car is a facelift W212 E63S (the only current mod is an ECU tune). I'm coming from the M5 & R230 world and am not too familiar with the W212 platform.
Any recommendations?

If he's not an old fart and has time to wash his own cars, I would say consider
Kaercher Power washer ----------- https://www.kaercher.com/us/home-gar...e-washers.html
Ceramic tint
Gift card, if he takes his Mercedes locally or if he has an Independent Local mechanic shop or any other gift card
Foxwell OBD-2 scanner -------------
Valentine one radar detector---------- https://www.valentine1.com/

Track day or autocross.
Track day can be anywhere from $200-$600 depending on track.
Autocross is often around $50.
Search here for events nearby:
https://www.motorsportreg.com/calendar/
Be warned though, an autocross or track day can be a death spiral of money, adventure, and life-lasting friendships.

If it's a 2016 year I recommend getting the apple Carplay dongle from Vlad on Ebay, and the CARPLAY2air adapter to make it wireless. Together those two things have changed my maps/phone/music/everything experience.

I personally wouldn’t recommend any TCU tunes not provided by EDOK or Eurocharged (Jerry).
I have had them both. Was getting consistent low 2.7’s 0-60 on EDOK. But snapped my output shaft 1 year ago on a launch. Although I had a pretty aggressive flavor of EDOK. That tune is about $1800 I believe.
I have been running Jerry’s EC TCU now for about 8 months. It’s a bit slower than EDOK, but still running low 2.8’s 0-60 and 10.56 1/4 recently on it. With this tune I have far less anxiety about snapping anything while only giving up about a tenth of a second.
Jerry’s tune is about $2k as I recall.
FWIW
Cheers.

This decal is about $8 and yields at least 3 Hp! 🤣

This electronics safe convenient size extinguisher is about $175. Must have if you are running meth!

I ended up going with the RoadTop module (Amazon) for my 2014. Agree - wireless carplay a great mod that really brings the car more to the current generation of cars. No touch screen, but if you are ok with that, it's great. Now, the car's tech is only as old as the phone I'm using.

here is the link to the one I bought from Amazon:
Road Top Wireless CarPlay Android...
I installed it such that the box is hidden in the glove box. That way if the box itself fails or I buy a newer version later, I can just replace it from the glove box as opposed to opening up the dashboard again.
