Gold 2013 e63 wagon spotted
Today I was driving in my 100 series and a moved out of the way for a pfl s212 with Pa plates to come flying by. As its pretty rare to see this model of wagon, I needed to see if they were in a 2013. For background purposes, I have a palladium 2013 with power package, full carbon in and out, etc.
I noticed that the wagon was not in the distance so they may have gotten off at the exit I was using and sure enough I was able to pull up next to them. I startled the driver a little by honking and asking him to lower his window (Baltimore City). I mentioned I had a palladium one and nice to see another. The driver seemed a little shocked and confused and their answer in response was "do you know what this is" and I said "Yes, I have one." Their answer, still startled was, "this is an e63". to which I answered, "yes, I have a palladium 2013, its a silver color". It took a second for him to realize that not only did I know what it was, and the year, but also have one.
With excitement he then mentioned how rare it was and that only 209 were made to which my response was. "only 59 in 2013". The light changed green and he let me hear the beautiful exhaust as he pulled away.
Long story short, even when you know what a special wagon these are, they are very rare birds and some are shocked that anyone knows. This was a funny encounter. He was really shocked.
On a side note, anyone know how many of the gold they made that year? Didn't look like a p30 car but honestly didn't look took much for that as I was talking to the driver.
Hello to you if you are here.

I get more nods and smiles in the wagon then I ever did in anything else.
Sometimes I look over and the next car is just staring waiting for me to look over. It catches me off guard, they smile, I beam one back and nod like "YEAH! That's right, you got it, this is really happening" and they always beam an even bigger smile back, give a thumbs up, etc.
Of course they need some revs and sport+ shift or two.

nothing shows up there in that link?
The reality is there is a big difference between the enthusiasts that have lusted after Uber wagons for the last thirty years (I’m 44) and new money that likes flashy and fast and “the best”. I have been following since the rs2 and rs4.
I have every conversation that’s initiated because you can tell who is a true car person. I would have hoped that since I was in another rare spec mint vehicle (06 lx with heritage wheels) that I would not look threatening

2012 E63 Wagon
Maybe its just me. I sometimes get that look as if to say "the guy in that wagon looks happier than me".
As I catch the stare of each MB suv owner.
I'm always friendly and wave; or answer questions when approached in a parking lot.

It was a beautiful car. Its nice to see different colors. I think it is in the online search at Jackson motorcars 2013 and marked as sold. I found it by typing gold 2013 e63...easy search..not many out there. At least three 2013s in the "area"
And I don't think the person was anything other than surprised and caught off guard. Not that he likely noticed but I did catch him just to say hi![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Nobody understands the wagon except those that do.
s212e63md I am assuming you are the owner of one of the other wagons in the pic...I see the instagram link now. I am in that area every other Thursday. Is there a meet up there? Or is this a mechanic or other owner? Ever at Hunt Valley Horsepower?

I find with the wagon it’s the same deal. Only car guys know. We think everyone does but no, only diehard know about a few hundred station wagons someone decided to create to spank … everything. Just because.

I actually am not an owner of any vehicle pictured there. I somehow stumbled on that post a while back and was salty i missed their gathering lol. To my knowledge there are 8 preface-lift wagons in the DMV area including yours and mine. Would be cool to have a meet up someday !
