Love this car

Just want to say that these cars are fantastic.

I drove mine from DC to FL last night - left at 8:45 PM (20:45 for ROW), and arrived at 5:30 AM. Car was fantastic.

Just thought I'd post up a positive experience since there seem to be a lot of negative posts lately...

If driven sensibly without trying to get every single drop of power out of them, these are great cars. They got the style, the sound and the power, what else would one want

It's an amazing car that has brought me a lot of joy. I have no regrets and don't look at it as a source if liability or anxiety. It's a rare moment in my life where it's the thing I want and I actually have it, and I don't want another different thing.

thanks for this thread

I have good memories of long distance trips in both my E55 and S550. I'll have to add the E63 to that list at some point.

The other day I noticed a couple getting out of their car as I approached mine. As they walk past me: the woman announces "I want a station wagon.. A fast one like yours"

Never road tripped my 63 but did a 12-hour (DC to Peoria) in my E550 and it was great. Perfect blend of power and riding on a mattress. Only downside was the smelly AC.

I've done the DC->Naples drive a few times though never in this car. Not for fear of road hazard but because that's a lot of miles. lol My annual DC->Chicago drive is slightly more palatable.

Obviously different strokes for different folks, but I've tried to keep mileage low on a car before. When I sold it, I did get more money for it, of course. But, I also paid a lot to have the car sitting there a bunch. In the end, I regretted just having it sit there and not enjoying it. So, I've kind of adopted the mantra of "it is what it is," and just drive the car when I want to. You're 100% correct - it is a lot of miles in one go (700 for me) which causes some depreciation, but another way to look at it is that it's a lot of miles in one go so I might as well be comfortable and enjoy them.

Especially with the way ICE cars are going away, I'm going to enjoy this one as much as I can and not worry about depreciation. The only thing I could see trading this for is a W213 E63 or F90 M5 (as they are the end of the line for the pure ICE cars). But I also kind of like having the 5.5 over a 4 liter. haha

I find that if you can split mileage between two cars you like (one more of a daily and one the "special" car) things tend to work out best. You get the decreased wear and tear, but still can enjoy the car and it's not just sitting 300 days of the year or whatever (which isn't great for it).

I just drove mine from Atlanta to Hilton Head. It eats highway miles as well as any “luxury” car. And when you need to put the hammer down, well I don’t have to explain that to you guys.. :-)

I still need to get it into the N Georgia mountains and the cool rides in NC and TN. I have a 2009 SLK55 AMG that I usually use for that, but I think this car could be quite entertaining in that environment.

If i could get all the rattles and squeaks to go away id love it too, but my ears can't let it go.
My 08' m3 is straight piped, pretty much slammed, and doesn't rattle anywhere near the amount the e63 does, 6 years older and 60k more KM too...

Guess that's my project next summer..

e63 wagon greatly expanded my mental driving range after doing 11hr in a day (~600 miles) this summer. Originally the plan was to break the trip overnight, but it was easy and comfortable to continue. I got a new bug for longer road trips now, the hell with depreciation

Yes. Even though the chassis itself feels solid, the interior build quality is somehow worse than my 04 E55 which had like FOUR MORE owners and more mileage (and was 10 years older, to boot).

I wonder how the W213 are holding up. The materials feel solid, leather is nice, the alcantara is nice, but it just seems vibration easily makes it way into the cabin, and for the weight of the car, I cant see why its a thing.
The pano roof, okay I get it, but the seat belt holder (the unit that sits near your head) rattles, the rear climate control console rattles, somewhere around the visor and sunroof controls rattles.
Hitting any bumps causes squeaks that sound like its from the shocks but most likely not and coming form somewhere else.... it never ends lol

Im literally planning on tearing it all apart and putting in sound deadening foam and hopefully it solves it.

Other than that I love the car.. lol

Wow, sounds just like me. I LOVE my W212 but my W211 was super solid and much older.

I love long road trips in this car. Maybe the best possible car for it. Can go 450+ miles per tank, massaging seats, dynamic cruise, etc. but then can also romp when you're bored.

I hear you. I do have to retighten the pano roof on mine. The creaking has been getting more often on ramps, etc. I'll probably tackle that this fall/winter. I haven't really had other creaks and rattles. But, I also have had absolutely zero rattles or creaks on my M3... and the M3 suspension is dialed in for track use.

On the weekend in the 212 there were no cars so I stopped beside a mile long concrete sound wall on the empty service road. Rolled down all windows opened the sun roof and floored it through the gears - stage 2 damn the echo sounded great! Those BAPS on upshifts - amazing. One-Two happened right beside a convertible going the other way. Oops - lol wonder what went thru their mind.
