<$20.00. Part of oil filter housing. Known leak point. Can only get to it with thermostat out.

Mine broke trying to remove and could not find locally (it's the oil cooler thermostat cover). Ended up buying an entire oil filter housing with thermostat, cooler, filter and cover at my local dealer for counter retail. Ouch.

So far no signs of leaks for Me. My cooling lines were rock solid, I tried to snap them but couldn't. WP pulley showed no movement. Just that 1 long bolt with oil on it.

Just make sure you don't try to remove counterclockwise. Turn to the right to remove.

I think I was able to get my lines to snap but there were no signs of leaking.

Maybe climate related? My car was Canadian until I moved it to N.E. PA.

Yeah mine was 100% Northeast which is not too hot.
These things run ridiculously high coolant temps for emissions as it is so a hot climate must be murder on all the components.

I didn't touch mine but I believe it is 8. I remember this because I have a ratcheting 5/16" box which technically fits an E8. I remember trying to guide the wrench down to the bolt before I planned the job out and was like "nope" and made an alternate plan....

I think 8 too, but my memory is crappy. I know I utilized my handy 2+ ft long big flat blade screwdriver as a lever down the sidewall behind my ratchet to help hold it in place while working the turbo coolant line bolt.

The oil filter thermostat cap. Also, be careful as it is under spring pressure, fairly strong spring so be ready to catch it if it shoots out. It was leaking like a sieve on my M157. Much cheaper than replacing the whole oil cooler assembly.

Yes I tried silicone hose at first but could get a positive crimp and moved to a high heat rubber line and used custom crimpers that are different form the flush cut crimpers. I replaced the two lines . I put dies in the system and have been checking it from time to time no leaks . This weekend replacing plugs and coils . had a misfire on #6 and the are original coils with 108.000 miles on them and the plugs are at 30,000 crossing my fingers when I shop the holes. This was my dad's car that was well maintained and all the services on time . I would detail it for him twice a year its in amazing condition .

I'm a little worried that all My jockeying around moved the metal lines enough to disturb the o-rings at the turbo so contemplating trying to remove them.

If you mean bending the hose end of the lines then no, it's fine.

Well the hose ends got moved back and forth quite a bit and I wonder how much stress that put on the o-rings on the ends in the turbo.

Was the bolt touched? If not then I don't think anything moved.

Nope , I never got near it. Just had to shift the hose ends around to extract to old WP.

I didn't remove the bracket holding the 2 tubes together with the idea that it would provide some support. I only removed the bolt holding the tubes to the WP.

I think I did because I was doing my oil cooler and filter adapter at the same time. No coolant leaks that I know of.
