Is this normal?
Foremost, the video is not mine. I’ve captured to share the “noise” I hear when I’m WOT or above 5K RPM upshifting.


Hello Gents!
please listen to the noise in the video.

I’ve noticed when I’m upshifting at 5K rpm in manual mode or Sport/+ it makes this noise in the video shown. It doesn’t make this noise when I’m in Park or Neutral and revving it above 5K.
Only occurs when I’m WOT or upshifting above 5K RPM.
Below 5K rpm, NO noise.

Is this normal?

look up waste gates
They open to help spool down turbos

these valves go bad when not sealed.

If the wastegate were to be a culprit, won’t it rattle or the noise will be constant during any and all rate of rpm shifts? Lastly, won’t it throw CEL? Hmmm….

What I heard is working wastegates doing their job.

Leaking waste gates is some boost lost
Failed wastegates are no boost pressure

DTC for low boost can be activated.

Right now it's working well.

I’ve captured the video uploaded from that exact post. Also commented for a feedback without a reply.

it seems as if I’m not the only one experiencing this “noise” when shifting at high RPM or WOT

It seems ludacris to me that “trans service” fixed the noise. The noise is coming from under the hood (front of the grille) not beneath the car.
