M157 issues...again :(
Car: S63L W222 2016 (M157)
Has anyone heard this noise before? I only noticed this when I was showing of the noise of my car to a couple of friends.
When revving car makes a dump valve style noise, see video
Thing's I've already inspected:
- No errors in Xentry.
- Nothing out of the ordinary with belt or pulleys in engine bay, just had a quick visual look but need a 2nd person there to check where noise is coming from (yet to do).
- No issues with driving, car accelerates normal and fast.
- No lights on the dash.
Thanks
Somebody told me to check wastegate, but that looks normal to me when the brake pedal is pressed.
See video below:
The problem is in the Vacuum pump check valve in the Vacuum pump there is 2 check valve 1 big valve for brake booster and the another one for the Turbo solenoid this solenoid control the Wastgate of the turbo. I’m sure 100% this is your problem. Mercedes dealer they didn’t sell this Valve separately they sell all Vacuum pump but you can find this Valve online. Try to remove by your self and see the valve it’s one-way-valve. make sure when you remove you don’t leave broken pieces inside the vacuum pump hole. The problem not in the check valve but the problem inside the check valve there is small diaphragm orange color 80% you will not find it inside the check valve because it’s get damage from the heat and going inside the Vacuum pump. here is the picture for the check valve and the diaphragm inside the check valve

Normally Westgate not should move when you press the brake paddle after you replace this check valve will not move when you press the brake paddle. Don’t keep it like this or you will get damage inside your Turbo Housing.
Sorry my english not very good but i try to help.

If I disconnect the hose from the check valve and unscrew the valve will anything leak?
And do you have a link to where I can buy that small orange diaphragm?

It only seems to happen if I suddenly start the car and floor it straight away (Engine warm).
My warranty expires on 10th July so i'm out of time lol.

I checked my old vacuum pump and the rubber seal was intact and perfectly fine. Mercedes still replaced the seal and the noise was still there.
Noise doesn't come though as often, last heard it 1-2 months ago.
Car drives as normal.
My friend said could be belt or faulty pulley.
For now I'm just driving as normal.
However, I am going for a really big service next week, transmission service, spark plugs, brake fluid, filters, oil etc so will see if that by any chance had an effect.
I've addressed most the issues.
The clicking noise believe it or not turned out to be the tightness of the wheel. Before a wheel impact gun was used to tight bolts, which is not the correct method to tight bolts.
Once I replaced rear and front tyres recently the clicking noise disappeared when hand torqued correctly. I also cleaned up the hub and wd 40 in wheel nut hole.
No more clicking noise.
The other issue was the whine when revving stationary or accelerating under load. Took my car for a gearbox service today and that noise has seemed to disappeared, torque converter might not have had enough transmission oil.
So far everything works and runs fine.
Also I used to get brake pads done at Mercedes and they used to squeak. Guess what...I changed brake pads myself this time round both front and back, taking extra time and care including using grease on edges of pads. No more squeaks.
