Which Engine Oil?
I cannot say if I prefer it over similar Motul, but I like the M1 price and Amazon availability. Amsoil is my favorite oil thus far, but I find it price prohibitive given the high mileage and 3 MB’s I maintain

Jason touch base on familiar topics but could do a much better job showcasing his sponsor high-detergent oil.
"Advanced Clean" is the answer from Mobil1 own additives formulator.
The viscosities match smaller engines application we can't touch with our hydraulic Phasers.
There is an easy way to run all the jobs of lubricants... it's available from effective oiling instead of limited oiling!

Oil cleans when it stops burning.
If you want to wash off burnt oil deposits, this product is not MB Approved.
Lately the development of cleaning oil speaks to mounting blowby issue from hot crusted rings.

> BALANCED FORMULA....
The rational is additives are concentrated extreme formulations designed to boost engine oil.
The issue is that engine oils are well balanced blends that suffer when boosted one way too much. Meaning too much of a good thing is bad.
Lake briefly talks about friction vs. wear additives to say lower friction can add wear.
> CLEANING FORMULA...
One of the hot topic not discussed is oil detergent. It's a tough act because what loosens deposits also makes the oil film not cling well.
The new cleaning chemistry featured in Valvoline and now Mobil1 lubricants is an advanced agent that may work without hurting lubrication too much.
> DOUBLE-TALK...
In todays video Lake repeatedly talks about extending drain intervals...
In prior videos Lake spoke about drain intervals as a wholesome bad idea to stretch oil life beyond its effectiveness:
- high contaminants are abrasive!!
- oil dilution from fuel is quickly bad!
- lower sheared viscosity impact spray Rpm
- degraded formula components
Improving pistons ring seal delivers a lot of positives including less contaminants.

Getting your own engine sample analyzed can let you spot significant fuel dilution from rings blow-by and leaky injectors.
All oils are good for a while from ~3 to 5k Miles then fall out of spec more or less fast. Fresh oil is the simple way to mitigate issues.
