Can we guess this car was sold after countless repair attempts?
Meaning it has a new HPFP and the ECU harness has been somewhat tested already.
Can we say it runs well and fails once a while or fails like clock work.
ECU reporting a GND short means it's loosing its plus side feed. You want to confirm that is happening or not.
There's a limited chance a new pump (MB/Bosch) will be electrically defective. It can be mechanically damaged during install.
Inspect the M/F pump connections.

The ECU is reporting Pump electric troubles, lets not say shortcircuit: it's misleading here.
Based on your report, I cant believe its just a failed pump...
