3rd party replacement AMG builder plaque

Does anyone have any good leads on sources for replacement AMG builder plaques?

I don’t have an exact name of my builder and haven’t been able to find any info.

I spoke to a couple local dealers about this already. First one said I’d need to contact AMG directly and couldn’t provide any additional info as “AMG is a separate entity entirely”. Second one got back to me a day later and quoted me $400 and 3 months lead time for just the plaque… which seems ridiculous. People seem to be able to source these for less than $100 even from dealers. Should I just keep calling around to different dealers?

I’ve found a couple sources of aftermarket plaques but the style is a bit different from my older M156 plaque.

i don't have a lead but I'll look around, but make sure you etch your name next to the builder - you deserve it.

And you want this exact builder? Have you contacted the AMG private lounge moderators yet to see if they can help source one?

Yes I’d preferably want to keep it exactly the same style as the current plaque with the same signature. Mine is just very faded as you can see.

And what about the AMG private lounge? Is this a forum here?

Yeah I’ve seen a few sources of badges like the eBay one you linked but it’s not the same OEM style. Trying to keep my car OEM+. Maybe me nitpicking over the plaque details seems petty but it’d bother me knowing it’s not “right” lol.

And thanks, I’ll try checking out the AMG lounge.

Also I would look around to professionals that can restore this type of product - new paint on the writing and design elements - keeps its ultra OEM

Hmm I wonder how just cleaning it and applying a clear coat would turn out. Refreshing the black might be a bit tougher

Do you have a better pic of it?

I would start with stainless steel cleaner or some non abrasive and see if the black comes out better.

i almost like the weathered look of it - this car has done the distance and it tells a story

Here are some better photos. One directly above and another at an angle. It doesn’t look too faded directly on somehow, maybe just the lighting as I had a LED directly above it.

And maybe I could agree about the faded look giving it more character but it’s not quite a vintage car yet where original weathered look kinda can become cool.

Part of it is maybe I’ve just seen some clean AMG engine bays on the later year biturbo models and even some older lower mileage C63 W204s with pristine looking plaques.

Just trying to give this car the love it deserves! A bit worried about trying the stainless steel cleaner as it might rub off the current paint.

Assuming you’re talking about something like Barkeepers Friend cleaner. Whatever you decide to do definitely try it on a small corner. I believe the text/logo is silkscreened on.

Good Luck.

I designed my "Black Series" style plaque and had a shop in the UK custom make it for me.

Jeez.. Every angle of your car is E63 ****. This looks great! I feel like I wouldn't deserve an "upbadge" black series engine plaque without some serious performance mods! Not sure I'd want to take mine that much farther beyond upgraded reliability bits.
