Water pump replacement and noticed two different coolants

In the process of replacing my water pump and thermostat. I noticed that there were two different color coolants. A blue colored coolant came out of the smaller coolant lines and a orange-y or possibly pinkish colored coolant when I pulled out of the thermostat and water pump. I was wondering if this was intended and if anyone knew what the difference was. Also if they need to be specific, can someone please provide me with which types I need. Car is a 2014 e36s.

The blue is probably Your intercooler fluid. There was a switch from I believe a red radiator coolant to orange awhile back. Or the other way around. Check with FCP Euro. Now that I think about it My original coolant was orange. New stuff was red.

I see. that would make sense. Are there any docs out there on how to burp the system?

Might be. Some people use a vacuum valve. I just did the old way. Front end elevated a bit. Heat on high. Ran it to operating temp and topped it off. I checked the tank several times over the next few cycles.

Never ever mix. Iron rule. Production until May of 2014 were blue and on afterwards cahnged to red/pink. That being said not all 2014s are blue but rather specific on the date of production.

again, should never ever be mixed

That is another thread that I have not had time to create. I just got the new one in last week, trying to do year end, open a new clinic, hire staff, build a new office (on one of our properties) keep the cars running and leave the country for Xmas to avoid all family.

It is....and as for "Mercedes Certified"....yeah, I have seen nuttier stuff come out of the Stealership. What to me is crazy, the clogged area is the upper portion of the radiator. I guess it was the cream going to the top. I need to get another image of the side "flow" areas as you can clearly see where fliud was in motion within the radiator.

After calling FCP Euro, theyre saying I can use the Zyrex G40(red) for the radiator and Zyrex G48(blue) for the intercooler. Has anyone used these two products? or if you have recommendations on what to use for the radiator and intercooler.

yes those will work fine and I have same situation and products in my e550 from 2014. It’s annoying having the different fluids, but it came that way (for mine)

I keep posting this but nobody seems to search…or want to believe it..

Things have changed over the years… This is from Mercedes, to a large dealer network with hundreds of locations.  What a dealer does and what you can buy at an auto store to diy bring different solutions to the same question.

My car has a 10/13 production date so in the context of coolant I suppose that means Pre-2014. I am getting ready to change coolant reservoirs for both the main cooling loop and the IC loop. The coolant currently in my main loop is blue...actually it more of a teal color at this point. It is definitely NOT pink or red or purple. The coolant in my IC loop is Pink. I plan on draining all the existing coolant in both loops and flushing and replacing with new coolant. So I just stuck with blue in main pink in IC but now Im second guessing all this.

Am I ok using the stuff below?

I would simply follow what the latest updated info says in the MB Bevo website.

Since I have a 2010 M272 engine I use the Zerex G48 50/50 pre-mix coolant. I can get the Zerex cheap at my local Napa auto parts store. I use the 50/50 because my house tap water isnt the best, leaves water spots on my car after washing so I dont feel comfortable putting it in the cooling system.

As for using the Peak brand European antifreeze I would use it if I couldnt find any other coolant that has the specific MB spec listed. The only spec i can find listed on the Peak info is astm spec.
