2018 W213 E63 AMG Getting Closer
Ill be keeping my facelift w212 while I await the w213 facelift in a few years. Hell the facelift may come out in 2019, Im sure AMG is reading all the comments about the ugly rear end.
The w204 facelift looks better than the current w205 as well on the exterior, Mercedes needs to get more aggressive with their recent designs.
My dealer told me last Friday that the w213 E63 will start arriving at their dealership(Princeton, NJ) in late April/early May, and that there will be a refresh in 24 months, so probably a 2020 model out in May 2019. I think I will be doing the same and keep my 14', since it only has 6500 miles, and wait for the refresh 2020.
Furthermore, I like the ability to be able to be able to lower or raise the car as I please and on the fly with a fairly cheap lowering module.
I dont autoX or take my car to the track where having a spring setup be better since I would have the option of going coilovers and such so for me it works and works well.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
The grill looks like the radiator would be vulnerable to rocks since there is no mesh. Not sure if an issue, but on the 911 Turbo forum some people have had their radiators destroyed by rocks due to the lack of a mesh.
Since it is looking like the interior options for E63 will be limited, I'm toying with the idea of buying a Macan Turbo (used) to replace our C300 and then reapplying for the E63 maybe a year later when things get more interesting. Only issue is my wife does like HUD a lot.
However the LA Autoshow car was wearing Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Michelin also told me that the E63S is their first OEM fitment. So I'm somewhat surprised to see this car on those awful Pirelli tires.

If I compared this CUV to my last car, being the F10 M5 (pre LCI), it is night & day difference. The M5 that I had consumed way too much oil as I was going thru 1 litre every 600km or so such that I had to visit my bimmer dealership so often that they knew what I want the moment I drove up to their service reception entrance. LOL.
As you know, Porsche tech is at least 5 yrs behind everyone, well, may be not the Panamera. If you do end up getting the Macan Turbo, it would be a nice upgrade (in comparison to the MB C300) for sure.

"Before taking a look at the video, let us tell you that it reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) faster than the official number of 3.3 seconds, in just 3.24sec, and 124 mph (200 km/h) in 10.83sec, whereas the 186 mph (300 km/h) barrier is hit in 33.56sec."
(3.24 sec. 0 to 100 km/h = 3.129 sec. 0 to 60 mp/h)
HMMM, A dual clutch and not a MCT?
I think this car is going to badass and definitely fast, I just wont believe any times until I see it in person. When the 14-16 E63s came out with all the awd rants, they claimed 3.5 to 60 and 11.50 1/4 , but most owners were going 11.8 or 11.9 in real world conditions stock, not saying none, but very few stock under 11.7(that I seen in the forum). The torque management in the older model was just horrible and killed 60' times, maybe it will be better in the new one. So this new car with 30ish more hp and 30ish more ft/lbs torque, I can't see it going 10's stock, sorry, just don't believe it.
Either way, it's still going to be sick and finally a fast MB sedan with a nice interior.
It could il's be possible even this new one will have a similar torque limit to the older one which the whole purpose of it was to protect the trans from damage as a resukt of too much torque in the lower gears.
I really hope the tranny lag/limits have been reduced this time around.
