not to 60 mph, same number of shifts.. probably same number of shifts in the 1/4 as well... plus more power is getting to the wheels in 9g tranny if the power transfer efficiency diff truly is 92% vs 85%

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
Nothing other than cosmetic reason for the ever increasing wheel size. IMO it's beyond the point of diminishing return once you get larger than 18", or maybe even smaller.

id say pretty close but tuned is a little stronger with many 4matics and RWD doing 126-128mph. They both seem to be in same territory in trap speeds.
looks like it will take a tuned w212 to hang with a stock w213.

not with the extra ~200 lbs of second person/ 88lbs of testing equipment as mentioned above.... add almost 300 lbs to w212 drag race and it will slow it down a bit ... rule of thumb is a 1/10th in 1/4 for every 100 lbs

sounds like a great plan ... this will be the fastest stock wagon on the planet until the new cls63 shooting brake comes out

I'm guessing this 4.0 is 2 mated 2.0 inline 4s from the CLA AMG that made 355hp out of a 2.0 turbo 4 cyclinder.
This engine has a little more in it.I would say around 710hp with a tune is doable.dont forget the AMG GT black series is a go and will use this same engine.

Actually with catless downpipes it's making about 720-740bhp.
Should be an interesting contest between the old and the new.
I dont think its ever ever been this close before between new and older model generations.

not to mention they are in the engine valley vs underneath the car with bunch of extra piping
the new 4.0 motor with twin scrolls in the valley will make more power than our single scrolls piped underneath the car tuned vs tuned
not to mention they are in the engine valley vs underneath the car with bunch of extra piping

And an extra 1.5 litre of displacement on the v8 is good for nothing?
if anything i would of thought it should bring it somewhat close when both get tuned.
m5/6 are not just about twin scroll, they are also using 32% larger size turbos.
We still don't know how big the turbos are on w213, but they may be as small as m157 for all we know. Plus another .4 down on displacement as well vs s63tu motor.
The benefit to the smaller turbos for me at least is id rather have the big torque/power kick in earlier in the powerband than up top, so I actually hope they keep it this way for that quicker spool up of the turbos and NA-like throttle response as I experience on the m157.
