Should I consider the E43 AMG a real AMG?
Well.... my dealer basically won't come off from MSRP on an E43.....
'It's a new car..We only have one..... We can't discount the AMGs"
I then told her that this wasn't a real AMG...
Mercedes just put AMG badge on it.....
That didn't sway them.... LOL...
Anyway, I'll be moving on to look at some other cars...

Just to update my search.....
Ended up at Lexus....
Got a GS F...... I know its not the end all in 0-60 time...... but its plenty fast for me, and fun to drive.....
People that compare a GS F to an M5, or an E63 are nuts....
Both those cars will cost you over 100k.....they should be faster.....
Anyway.... The GS F deal...... 87k sticker price.....
71k plus tax..... OTD...... and they are paying my 3 remaining lease payments...
So I'm kinda happy with the deal...
Hopefully will pick up the car tomorrow...

saw one down here over the weekend and he tried to race and he got smoked big time, not even close.... he should of bought a CPO e63 or M5 for ~69K and saved a few dollars if he wanted to roll around racing people and actually win

the s6's, e550, m550i will spank that thing

From the man himself...
With this recent model-mushrooming has come some interesting scaling, some of it seemingly outside of the obsessive hand-built AMG dictum "One Man, One Engine." The latest slew of AMG-branded vehicles features the new "43" engine, a twin-turbocharged V6 that is not specially assembled at the AMG factory in Afalterbach. Rather, it's just a re-flashed version of a production motor, built at the regular Mercedes plant. Moers challenges the notion that this countervails the brand's creed.
"'One Man, One Engine' is not the brand core of AMG. This may be a misunderstanding, maybe done in part by us," he says. "'Driving Performance' is the brand core. Pushing performance, technology."

I'm personally still hoping for an E63S Coupe to move to from my RS5.
I might be waiting a long time. :-)

Sounds like Marketing decided it's time to change the perception of what constitutes an AMG to justify the re-branding push and help drive sales. At least Moers was honest enough to state that the "43" engine was just a ECU tuned standard production model. I give him points for that honesty. Some car companies would try to fudge the facts a bit to drive buyer perceptions.

so yes absolutely the e43 is a real amg
and if amg starts manufacturing pocket protectors with amg logos on them -- those too shall be considered real amg's as well. It's all about how you feel behind the wheel

HA! Like either of those two companies cares about that market segment. Neither is setup to address the service requirements of that market segment. Most of the guys I know that drive either one basically have to drop it off or have it picked up and then they wait two or three days or up to a week for some simple service.
I get how it is all about how you feel behind the wheel. That is the only thing that counts. The E43 is just way over-priced for what it is from my perspective and I'm sure once the E50 debuts, most MB dealers will be offering major discounts just to move them off their lots.

Probably very similar to how I'm doing with my GLE400 now that the 43 is out. Not to good!

Interesting, I guess the 43's are actually AMG'S. https://mbworld.org/forums/glc-class...g-academy.html
Got myself a E43 + premium 3 package + some extras last weekend. MSRP USD 86k. Shopped around and had 2 dealers that wouldn't budge from MSRP, 3 dealers that were 3-4k lower, and 2 dealers that were almost 9 grand lower than MSRP. Among these 2 went with the one that had our preferred color - black.
For me the main criteria was interior comfort and _sufficient_ engine power. The E300 was just too soft for me. The Audi interior looks dated and both me & my wife don't like BMWs :-)
Overall really happy with this car. I can see how marketing wise this is upsetting true AMG car owners but TBH if this car was named anything else and if it had this level quality I'd be happy to pay the price I paid for this car.

And that it sounds and drives like 89 Honda Civic. I drove it today at the AMG Academy and the car just does not move, breaks fade, and it can't transition (do you say that?), and it rolls in 3 wheels LOL
The C63s did change my mind, probably the second best car after the SLS Black series they had in the Academy today. I hope we do not have this car in the Advanced and the Pro..

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
That's ridiculous if true. For the most part, it's not like anyone forces anybody to still reside in that state given the current condition.
