Dilemma
So I have a reserved allocation for a E63S Wagon here in Toronto, however my SA gave me the update that the wagon would not physically be in my hands till 2018 January.
I currently drive a C63, and it is absolutely horrid to drive in snow even with winter tires...picture getting stuck on a slightest incline with cars behind you honking
My dilemma is whether I should jump ship to the sedan, and receive a fall 2017 delivery.
I really wanted the wagon for the versatility since I am a hockey goalie, and transporting all that gear would not be a problem in a wagon.
Ugh...this is really a first world problem haha.
Feedback would be greatly appreciated...

I thought you have the first batch of allocation ? No. If you do have such and delivery is now pushed that far back, I am afraid I am end up in the same position as you. (I gave my deposit June 2016 to be fitted into the first allocation).
Did you SA provide the reason of such delay ? Is your SA basing on real information or simply a wild guess without merit ?
I will jump ship too if I am being pushed this far back. Right now, my car needs new tires (in the next couple of months) and it's like $2500 and I really don't want to spend this $ if I don't have to.

I think the sedan looks so much nicer. I would take that over the wagon. It's still got plenty of room anyway

Take your gear down to the dealership and see whether it fits in the boot of the sedan. If it does, then the question becomes can you live with it.

Additionally, I followed up with my SA regarding the Sedan and he mentioned that they motored through their builds and are accepting orders now for a Summer/Fall delivery now...

are you serious ? Canada can only get 1 a month (per dealership, I think that's what you are saying) ? You are right! First world problem indeed. LOL.
So, you are telling me there is an actual Canadian ordering guide for the wagon out now. I just texted my SA, he better tells me the situation or I would be very angry as I have been waiting close to 1 yr now (since deposit given).
Thanks for your feedback. If you decide to switch over to sedan, do update this forum as I like to know your situation too. Sorry, not being nosy.

I know MB Burlington has only been given 1 Edition 1 wagon to sell and that one is already sold a long time ago (at least that's what the SA said, not sure if it's true or not)
That's crazy to get 1 wagon per month per dealer. At this rate, people would be looking at 2020+ to get their wagons. After all, we are not buying a Hyper car. LOL.
Again, there is an official ordering guide for the wagon ?

BTW, thanks for the input guys. Regarding the space issue, I will have two baby seats in the back, so putting the seats down will be a pain in the butt (putting in and taking the baby seats)
The more I think about it, the sedan will likely work as my wife has a company car, and i will use that to haul the gross things like my hockey gear.
Well I have my meeting with my SA tomorrow, he seems pretty jazzed to move me to the sedan from the wagon...

I want to say every 5 years, but in reality every 3 to 4 years. I am caught up in the cycle of always wanting the newest and shiniest...ugh

Got a text back from my SA just now, I do have the first allocation for the wagon. But SA still does not know the timeline for delivery. He will not commit of saying Sep delivery, he can only hope it will happen.
Btw, he confirmed 1 allocation per dealer per month (at least for few months) as mb Canada has given all dealers some kind of directives

If you were changing cars every year or even more often, grab the sedan for 8-12 months then switch to the wagon. Me, I would make your current timeline work somehow.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
You could always try and find a good used 2015 or 2016 Wagon. I had my 2012 up for sale, gonna hold off for now with the uncertainty that I may not have my ordered 2018 Wagon until next year even though the dealer told me August or September, I don't believe it. I don't want to be without a AMG wagon for the next 8 months or so.

spoke to my SA again this morning, he checked his database and the allocation has not been officially assigned/opened by MB Canada.
Right now, thru my SA's call to MB Canada, they can only confirm the production for the wagon (for Canada delivery) will begin in August 2017 and delivery should be around mid October at current projection. The final prices will likely be released in mid July at the latest, hence, there is still the possibility of changing the configuration before it is locked in.

Either way I have decided to switch to the Sedan, with a delivery time in August.
Waiting for the SA to call me back so I can do the formal order.
Hmmm. Bobblehead, do you know how many customers are behind you for the wagon at Thornhill MB? Might not matter as they are both corporate stores

sorry to hear that you have to switch to a sedan.
My SA did confirm of the restrictive allocation, like you have told us here.
btw, my SA said the sedan is being held back at port as the government still have to do their certification of the car. Right now, MB Canada does not seem to know when they will be released with certification. That's more waiting, I guess.
I will text my SA to see if there are people behind me (for the wagon).
