heated steering wheel...
Yes, but in the E43, its not available if you order the 'AMG performance package', which includes the AMG steering wheel, 20 inch rims, and summer performance tires.
I am clueless why such an inexplicable decision was made by MB.
Similarly, the 'acoustic comfort package' is not available on any W213 in Canada....
Again, a mystery.......

heated AMG steering wheel
I was very perplexed why it was not available, so I dug very deep with my enquiries.....
Here is the unbelievably stupid answer I received from mercedes canada, who got it direct from MB USA :
" we believe that most AMG drivers are more concerned about performance, than comfort, so it's not offered".
I am still laughing (and crying) about that answer.....

Mercedes doesn't know their customers very well. I believe they have a stockpile of them and are going to keep pushing them on us until gone. I am waiting on my E63s for January and won't be happy without the heated steering wheel. My current Audi S7 is the same, no heated sport steering wheel. I believe the new M5 does have it. My previous X5m did have a heated wheel. Maybe I should have waited for the M5.
I’m in Quebec and here the winter is no joke. -20C to -35C without the wind factor, with a lot of snow.
No heated steering, I need to sell it !

Like I said, not cancelling my order. But, this is nothing other than "we stupidly didn't engineer a sports steering wheel with a heating element, for no valid reason we can offer, but we can't say that, so we are saying something completely nonsensical."
Ugh.

Yeah I probably won't refuse it because of the heated wheel but it still irks me just same. I will curse MB every cold winter morning. If only we could use the remote start but that is another topic. This basic tech that every car has seems to elude the MB AMG models. I guess we don't need it because we have 600 hp.

The reason either has to be an over supply of the non heated wheels, or technical.....
But with all the technology the car has, and even a 20K Kia has a heated flat bottom wheel, it cannot be technical.
Unless the heating elements are incompatible with the Alcantara inserts on the wheel.
If thats the case however, why not offer two wheels, non heated with alcantara, or heated with no alcantara inserts ?

Definitely would have been nice to have a heated option but the Dynamica wheel feels pretty comfy with 10-15 degree weather here,
Am used to not having the heated steering wheel option at all (on our SL's) or half a heated steering wheel on the S-Class (non-AMG wood/leather) where only the leather portion is heated...

For me, what annoys me the most is that the profiles of adjustments of the driver's seat, mirrors, steering wheel and multimedia, is not associated with each of the smart keys.
My wife is smaller than me and I find it really stupid that, in a 120k$+ car, every time I enter the vehicle after she has used it, I have to move the seat back with the control in the door so I can sit down without hitting my knees on the steering wheel.
This is the first car I have in 10 years that does not have this function.

Remote start was available on Chevy cars like 10yr ago, so not having it on $130k MB is preposterous IMO.

Surely, this must be the longest thread ever re: heated SW. We have one in our LR4, and it's nice... but not a part of the equation. That said: I assumed we had remote start on this car... it was available when I put my order in, so has that changed?

Which - remote start from the app, or via Alexa? I don't have my car yet to check myself, but there's a thread in another model sub-forum...can't recall which, where a lot of people are posting that Alexa responds as if she's doing/done it, but it doesn't actually happen.

Remote start uses the Mecedes me app which is not functional in Canada. Does anyone in Canada have this feature working.? There were hints from an internal dealer newsletter that it might be available soon but I have heard nothing since.

Can't you use the seat memory function for that? It should also store the mirror adjustments also I would think.

Yes, but the memory seat function doesn't link to a key. My wife's Honda Odyssey does that - in fact the previous version did too. Open the door with the key in you pocket and it automagically figures out that the key is linked to driver 1 or driver 2 and positions the seat accordingly.
Having to stand there and press the memory button isn't that big of a deal, but hey if a $50 k mini van can do it, you'd think that they could find a way to make it happen in a $140 k luxury sedan. They could even have made it another $150 option and made some money doing it . . .
