Will the iphone X work with our NFC charger?

Getting the Iphone X tomorrow and want to make sure it works with our wireless charging? Are we suppose to just place it in the spot and it just charges?.

Probably not, it will be to large to fit in the designated place for the QI charger (NFC doesn't charge, it's a communication interface, QI is wireless charging.)

My Iphone 7plus fits perfectly in that space. Pretty sure the Iphone X is smaller than the Plus. However will the Qi charging work on the phone itself?

Sorry I am very tech unsavy!

If the 7+ fits then the X will definitely fit.

If the AMG has Qi, then the X (and 8 and 8+) will charge.

I'm glad to hear abut the space for the phone as I've been told it's way to small for Google Pixel 2 XL..

I have the iphone 8 and it charges perfectly.

Maybe someone can help me with a problem. I can receive a text message and the car will read it. However I cannot send a text message. I'm aware that I can send a text message when connected to Apple Car Play.

Cool,

Wish the CF center console allowed that option.

Will you or somebody post a pic of the iPhone X in the space please. Also can you post a pic of the space with no phone. My edition 1 doesn’t have the option so I want to see what I’m missing out on.

Here you go. I didn’t want the carbon interior so I can Have the NFC. I hate the charger wire from my phone to the USB port. Drives me nuts

Is there a setting to activate the charging pad, or is it always on? Not sure how that stuff works.

its always on as long as the car is on and it worked with a non paired phone so pretty much just like a wired charged. Just set the phone in the tray and it start charging.

So, if you order a Carbon Fiber console, then you cannot have wireless charging? Is there any reason why a CF console would preclude one from having wireless charging installed? or is this just a temporary situation?

And, I assume that if you want to use Apple Play you would need to connect via USB cable anyway?

No idea why the carbon fiber console does not allow for NFC. I have had the carbon trim in other cars and there does not seem like there is a reason not to offer it with it since the area where the phone goes for the NFC is never carbon fiber.

The Apple play only works with the USB port in the cup holder section ( you can see it in the image above) It does not work with the regular usb ports in the center console. So you would need a very short wire for it to look decent and not get all over the place when plugging in the phone.

It seems like the QI charging option and carbon fibre centre console trim is possible here in Norway, at least according to the online configurator..

Just picked up my car from Mercedes today in Sindelfingen.

As we were going through the training the Mercedes guy told me about the NFC charging. I said, yeah, I know, I wanted it, but it wasn't an option on my car with the CF trim. He said, no, it's in there. He showed me and sure enough it was there and does work. He showed me that it works with his Android phone, but said my iPhone 7 wouldn't work. I said my wife just upgraded to an 8 Plus, so we tried that. It worked for hers just fine after she removed her case. Her case had a big metal ring on it with a magnet for mounting on a dash vent mount that she uses in her car.

So, as of a 10/10/17 build, the option for NFC charging and CF center console is real, I have it in my car, and it works.
