How to do a fast get-away at the lights?
I have become used to driving my C63 and AMG GTS, both of which are calibrated to have a pretty abrupt clutch engagement and therefore you can make a clean and quick get-away from the lights.
I find the E63 tends to slip/slur the clutch engagement, and hence short of using race-start (which is totally unacceptable in daily driving), tends to be slowish to get going from a stop. Once the clutch is fully engaged, then of course it is very quick.
Has anyone found any tricks to do an abrupt get-away by messing with gas/brake positions (or any other tricks)?
Thanks,

What applies to the w212 likely applies to the w213
brake stall to about 2500 rpms and let it rip

Thunder on my E63S which runs a different tranny than the GTS (which we both have)... I never use RS but will some times brake boost out in S Plus. The car does feel like it jumps just a bit better.

Finally hit 1k miles, so tried race start twice. It's actually a real race start this time...very strong. But OP, now I see why you're asking the question...its'a a bit much for the street. Tires spinning, etc. Probably works fantastically well on a prepped track, though.
It also works really well entering and exiting parking garages.

So is there a lag if you just hit the gas normally without using RS or brake boost, just like the w212 also has going on why it? Or even at a reduced level, but still there?

Dont get me wrong, the lag is minute and you can nail the launches over and over but its not like using RS.

I could never understand how the CLS63 was so so so much quicker of the line that the w212 E63. Nailed them hard at the AMG academy back to back on 0-60-0. You end up racing against the E63 in th CLS63 and then you swap. I ended up flooring it just after the lights turned orange as that lag time ended up working perfectly for the green light start. Instructors could not figure out how I was able to beat the CLs everytime
yes--- remember the MCT tranny, while being a planetary automatic, doesnt have a tq converter. So the launch control is a must if you want to rattle off the BEST times.

I don't think I'll be even trying launch control until it is better understood why there are some transmission failures going on out there. I really don't feel like going through having to deal with the dealer anymore than I have to and the car is plenty quick just flooring it in sport plus mode.

good thing I don't street race (often)
brake stall/torque gives me the more reliable result

.
which model cls63 are you talking about? If it’s 2012 vs 2012 they both use the same MCT and motor so should be same lag on both
