I see that the differential oil needs to be changed after the at 2K mile break-in period. However, the manual does not appear to mention if the engine oil requires replacement after the 1K break-in. How many miles should I wait until the first engine oil change?

Yes, the manual seems to imply just regular intervals (10K) even after the 1K mile break-in period. Maybe I'll change it at 2K with the diff oil for peace of mind. Anyone else do their first engine oil change early?

Yes. I always do it on my new cars. At least two short time oil changes. Gets the wear-in chunks out of the engine.

Being the life blood of the vehicle, the easier the better, cheap insurance I say. I'd fo the first one at 2K. then every 5K after that.

Yeah, I'll change the oil at 2K along with the diff and that should be good to go.

I'll just change mine at 10K miles as recommended. I think anything sooner is kinda a waste of money. With the quality of synthetic oils and high quality filters these days it's not like it use to be, plus there is nearly 9 quarts of oil in there. Every so often I look at the oil level on the display. It's still right up there near Max with 3800 miles on the car.

Agree, stick to Mercedes schedule. They should know their own cars.
