Why does my car feel slow?

Hi everyone - I bought a brand new 2018 E63S. For the first 1000 miles a followed the break-in rules and babied it pretty hard and was looking forward to really seeing what this car could do after the run in period but honestly I thought it was going to feel a lot faster than it does.

From a stop, if I floor it in sport+ mode it probably takes the car a little under 6 seconds to hit 60 mph. Sport and comfort modes are even slower. Race mode is not much faster.

I noticed in the dashboard you can select the amg performance monitor and it'll give you a boost guage and tell you how much horsepower the engine is putting out.

Sometimes I see guage showing boost in sport mode but most of the time it's at 0 - and I never see it go past 0 in sport+ mode. The horsepower guage will never go over about 330 either.

Is this just something wrong with the ECU? I had a 2017 Audi S6 before this Mercedes and the S6 actually felt faster...

If you are doing zero to 60 in 6 seconds, you have an issue with your car. Im not sure whats the issue but it could be a boost issue with the turbos; you basically are running a normally aspirated small 8.

Take it to the dealer.

Sounds like you have boost issues. I came from a 2014 S6 as well but got the E43. Not sure how the E63s are but I would assume just as responsive if even more than mine. My boost gauge is immediate at the slightest push in on the throttle revs very quick as well. Much faster with very little dead spots compared to my Audi which sometimes bogged/stumbled when the DSG was trying to figure the right gear at lower speeds. You may have something loose or not functioning right with your turbos. 0-60 on these should be in half the time your quoting.

Maybe they forgot to put on the Twin Turbos at the Benz Factory? I'd take it to the dealer and have them check it out, sounds like you have a issue with the car.

I'll be very interested to hear what your dealer will say happened. Please keep us abreast of the diagnosis and solution.

So I think the turbo is overboosting and then the car cuts it off until I restart the engine.

I only discovered this boost guage yesterday so I took the car out for a drive again today. If I floor it the boost meter maxes out and then shuts off and the car is sluggish until I turn it off and start it up again.

Anyway, I'm dropping the car off at the dealership on Thursday. I'll let you guys know what they say.
